From looking at any mythology revolving around 'blue eyes', I came across the concept of the evil eye curse. Basically, the curse is supposed to cast through a look and bring misfortune to people ranging from sickness to death. Many cultures also believe that acquiring the eye will cause misfortune or death. You can read on this on your own time by googling the: "Evil eye curse" (most the information was on wikipedia and other mythology sites).

*Another fun thing to point out is that 'nue' creature that has been attacking the citizens of Konohagakure, also has been noted to cause misfortune, death, and illness to those it comes into contact with.

Back to the theory at hand the evil eye also has a very tight association with blue eyes. In areas such as Greece where blue eyes were rare, they were thought to hold the curse of the evil eye. Assyrian belief also explains that people with blue eyes were most likely to have the evil eye curse.

The manga places strong emphasis on Boruto's blue eyes. In the manga Momoshiki tells Boruto that his blue eyes will take everything from him one day and Sarada mentions that his eye's are bluer than the Seventh's.

Here is the kicker, though. Boruto's dojutsu shares a strong resemblance to the nazar talismans that are used to fend off the evil eye curse. It shares the similar light and blue white coloration of the iris, along with the darkened sclera. The minor difference is the coloration of the pupil which is black in the nazar.

Side Note: In Japanese it is known as "邪視" ("jashi")

Where the f*** do you even pull this shit out from bro. Interesting theory, but if true, what is the reason for him possessing such an eye in the first place?

His eye resembles a tenseigan imo.

I was just poking at mythlogy. When I realized that the monster that was terrorizing the kids was a creature from Japanese lore, I literally just googled "Japanese blue eyes" lmfao. I didn't find anything of substance of course, but I did find some interesting stuff later on.

Dunno yet. We'll probably learn by the end of the arc, or when Boruto starts training.

His eye resembles a tenseigan imo.

Color scheme wise, probably. I think Toneri's eye has more of a flower design, while Boruto's is more straightforward.

Mhm. New animators for every episode, there's no 'legitimate' design yet since new people draw it every week. We need a Dojutsu sheet. It looks the same-ish, but different every other episode. I get the general idea of what it's supposed to look like though.

Darkish-blue pupil (looks like a circular moon), outside of it is another shade of light blue, and dark sclera (I don't think he will have the dark outside in the manga).

>Bluer than the seventh's

I guess they wanted to make sure his blue eyes were important in the Dojutsu? But it looks like he might have some sort of trouble in the future, but I dunno how tragic it will get.

One can only hope.

The curse of white privilege
Haha!

Don't forget about the statement on blue eyed devils but seriously but nice find on the tailsman I'm not sure if momoshiki literally put a curse on his eyes if it does that boruto's eyes will cause destruction for others. I think he might of just said that to mess with him but who knows

So technically, Boruto is predestined to have something tragic happen to him in the future for the mere fact he possesses the eye.

Your theory is very convincing man. Nice find.
