In this version the exams are different, Sasuke/Gaara become a duo, The monkey golem get it's own battle and Boruto single-handedly defeats final form Momoshiki. Shit's wild. Is it the most canon? Probably not. Do I care? No.

Until you understand how manga story work, so is anime and how we perceive a story, you will keep repeating this nonsense for forever and no one will agree with you, just select few.
This is not Digimon mate where the center story that representing entire universe/multivese is blurry/non at all. Every time lines have its own story and characters. Even Digimon Adventure tri the continuation of Original Digimon Adventure are in its own time line/universe to other Digimon stories, and its okey.
Manga is not a comic where you have many authors just to write one character story. Manga is known for a center story where it shows all thing that happen from the beginning of the journey until the end of journey. And it be like that since forever. OP, Bleach, Toriko etc etc, and even Naruto original story.
To expand the manga/broader the story, manga author will chose a spinoff especially concerning to the story's characters eg, FT's characters like Laxus Spinoff, Gajeel Spinoff etc
and not recycling the same center story using various presentation materials (anime, manga, novel, movie, Video Games etc).
We can enjoy all offerings of Boruto series like we enjoy various Digimon stories but not this messy center story.
Nothing will change in understanding/way of reading Japanese manga(the story) like nothing will change on how American comic being written, its concept.
