Boruto doesn't even need anything to eclipse his peers, maybe Mitsuki at best with Sage Mode. But even I'm starting to doubt it with today's episode.
> Boruto unlocked his own Dojutsu, probably a variant of being related to Hamura and Hagoromo's genetics. We knew that Boruto was going to get a Dojutsu, but we didn't expect that the flash forward Dojutsu would be his own power.
> Boruto is a natural prodigy: He is the only one today currently in the next generation with an A-Rank technique, and he even made a variant of that technique, making it stronger. Plus, he has three elemental natures.
When I look at the facts, it seems that Boruto had the most untapped potential:
Has the most jutsu's
Is WAY too talented, that I seriously think Kishimoto had to nerf him to be 'lazy' at the start, otherwise .... :lol
Already unlocking his own powers
This isn't even added to the fact that Boruto got a Curse Mark from Momoshiki, which we know is used to equal out Kawaki:
Yup, plus sasuke as a mentor? Ofc, boruto has the most potential. I remember when mitsuki first showed SM, i wondered how tf can boruto match that. I'm so wrong now. :lol
I don't really expect NB to challenge the way they view media or anything, i'm partly here because anime culture with their ideas of 'filler' and 'canon' are so interesting ngl probably going to base my dissertation on this stuff. Kishi, George Lucas and JK Rowling all get treated like biblical authors whose word is law, guess it's the cult following aspect of these series.

I just find it funny that Kishimoto has never been the sole creator of Naruto, without his influences, feedback & one editor in particular- we wouldn't even have Sasuke. Yet few stop to think about this.
I think he feels like he has to be a ninja based on his surroundings. I dunno. But yeah, he confirms he wants to be a ninja in the future after meeting Sasuke.
IDK. Kawaki will probably have his own hacks.... I mean if he did take Naruto out/put him somewhere.
WELL tbh, the Dojutsu probably won't even be seen until he's much older. So it is just a plot convenience. Because I feel like if he does activate it, the power inflation will be screwed. Even tho Mitsuki has SM, he doesn't use it against enemies. So if Boruto awakens it and starts using gravity release or something crazy like that, it wouldn't be 'fair'.
But the seal is mainly for Kawaki/surpassing Naruto. At least I think.

Fair enough. I still feel like SP is a bit shady though, they have a track record for delivering good opening episodes, but usually the story line gets worse overtime.

At least for Sasuke case, he approved it for his manga add on and story but now he approves anything. Even if Bank of Japan wanted to changes the people face on Yen notes to Naruto, he will approve it without much thinking.

True, some of my most hated and favourite stuff is technically not in the manga be it films, books, games or anime but I don't let it phase me too much. All Naruto to me, whether it's good or bad doesn't decide whether it's canonical / disregarded as entertaniment though.
Staggering that there's people who still consider Boruto and the books filler. That's next-level faith and denial as far as i'm concerned.

It doesn't matter what he approves though, my point is that Naruto is the product of many people without the figure of a singular 'God/Author' figure
Its still matter by a length. Lets take Novel/Shinden. Some of it story contradict manga/anime but Kishi is said approved it.
Example: In Novel Momo power is reaching Sun level from what I remember but not in Manga/Movie. So which one is Canon/actual story's Momoshiki *power level*? Manga/Anime or Novel?

Even Kishi's own material contradicts itself sometimes though, so I try not to use that as my basis.
I think that's down to the audience. If we didn't have this canon/non-canon attitude in anime then different versions of the same events likely wouldn't even exist in the first place.

Maybe you dont understand deeply what is the meaning of canon/non-canon or you actually understand.
Canon not mean all things/story must be written in the Manga but if the said story not contradict manga/original story line or fact establishment aka Databook. Yes Databook not without flaw, its also contain hyperbole and hype. But it still very useful for cementing manga fact.
Apparently it is confirmed in the video that "Kishimoto sensei is involved in the original story (the academy days story that Boruto begins) of Boruto anime. Kishimoto sensei has looked at and approved everything. "

One of the known translators said this:
AmaranthSparrow
"I just watched the Naruto to Boruto TV special that aired yesterday, and I can confirm this, though I wouldn't go so far as to say he's "involved" in the original story.
They had Hiroyuki Honda from the Weekly Shonen Jump Editorial Department as one of the guests. About 2/3rds of the way through they talk to him about it being an anime original story, and he says, "It's a story that can only be seen in the weekly anime." They then ask him if Kishimoto-sensei is involved, and he says that Kishimoto-sensei checks everything and gives the story an OK before it's broadcast.
That said, Ukyo Kodachi, who co-wrote the film with Kishimoto and writes the script for the manga, is credited as Story Supervisor for the anime."

Of course I understand, i've been reading this stuff for a while now. My point is that (going off Barthes 'Death of the Author') the figure of the Author is not to be over-exaggerated. Hence the idea of what is canon and what isn't stops mattering so much when you realise Naruto, like all series is a collaboration of all kinds from influences, editors and audience and more importantly, is no longer property of the author once it becomes part of cultural history.
It's a crazy interesting read if you choose to look into it, but i'm drunk and calling it quits for the night
