We already have evidence that it is. On contact, Obito's Kamui nearly outspeeds FTG (and Obito hinted it may even be able to beat it).

I don't like Finger Gen in general. For something that OP, it HAS to be somewhat weak. Otherwise Itachi is the most powerful character in the entire story.

FTG being faster than Kamui supports Ephemeral being quicker though I believe. FTG doesn't need to channel chakra to the user's eyes; wherever the chakra for FTG is channeled in the body it's destination is shorter than that of Kamui's. Like Ephemeral.

Itachi being the best Genjutsu user in the manga, coupled with how broken he is in general, Ephemeral being weak doesn't sit right, even so, a weak or strong Genjutsu of any potency is liable to catch anyone because immunity to Genjutsu isn't truly a thing.

Then there's Itachi's ability to loop Genjutsu...

The problem with finger genjutsu is the only guy he ever used it on was Naruto, who was an idiot, and his only genjutsu teaching came from Jiraiya, also admittedly useless(he admitted this himself when fighting Pain, thus Fukasaku told him they'd cast the genjutsu) when it comes to genjutsu. I'd doubt it doing much to any high level ninja. I would say otherwise why not use it against x, y and z, but that argument can be made for so many things in this manga so it's pointless.

That being said the only interesting aspect of this fight to me would be finding out if Gama Rinsho would work on Obito. Could he phase out of it? Databook states the mind and body both are completely paralyzed. You can argue around this by stating Pain spoke while in the genjutsu, though another argument could be made that they simply allowed him to speak since Jiraiya was trying to get answers from him.

Who knows.

We certainly never will.

I argued that the reason for Pain's dialogue was due to Kishimoto forcing such for obvious reasons.

Team 1 clearly wins. B sits in the background at long range and lights them up with Bijuu Dama once he gets the chance. Jiraiya and Itachi won't be able to do a thing to Obito in the meantime, and Obito can suck Amaterasu off of B's body if he gets hit by it, though B can just use his tentacle clone technique to escape. (Like he already did in canon) If Itachi tries to use Genjutsu on B then he'll have to leave Susanoo in order to make eye contact, that's when Obito engages him and destroys him till he decides he'll put his defense back up.

If Itachi attempts to get close Bijuu Whirlwind blows him back and then BD ends his life. Or Obito traps Itachi in Uchiha Kaenjin allowing B to create distance to blow these guys up. Mid diff win for Team 1 in S1.


Obito solos with low-mid difficulty in scenario 2 due to Gedo Mazo, which is >>> Itachi's Susanoo who is >> Jiraiya. B's help makes it a rapestomp. This scenario is NOT debatable.

Itachi is a ***** for Jiraiya to match up against, but starting off in SM he's a match for MS Obito and Bee(separately, not fighting both at the same time obviously). Issue with Bee being the bijuu damas which Jiraiya doesn't have much of an answer for, but in terms of fighting Bee straight up and fighting Gyuki(sans bijuu dama), he can do it.

People underrate how much Fukasaku and Shima add to Jiraiya's arsenal. Jiraiya in SM is pretty ridiculous, mostly thanks to those two.
