. Kushina sharing similarities with Sakura is debatable. That tsundere attitude and the hothead temper are a given though, but there are also some differences between the two, like that cooking thing, which I think Hinata has, and the extreme care and love for Naruto. Hinata also has that. Hinata and Kushina have both protected Naruto with their lives as well. Kushina and Hinata have quite a few things they share too.

Also, a lot of real mothers wish for their sons to meet a woman like them, so they don't have to worry about their sons ending up with someone shitty.

Naruto picking Hinata was the better choice imo.
