Feat wise Kurenai was very skilled at Genjutsu.

She put Kisame under Genjutsu and his chakra levels are enormous

It's a reflection tech. Sharingan simply reflected her own Genjutsu back at her, which is why she is experiencing the exact same effects of Genjutsu like she thought Itachi was. He did shit there. Heck, you can clearly see the "tree-trap" in both the results:

Even without the VIZ scan, the "reflection" aspect is too damn obvious. And why the heck do chakra levels matter? Genjutsu is just a disturbance of chakra. Let's not create facts.

I didn't say she wasn't skilled. The point is that Sharingan is OP. It snares and subdues the Tailed Beasts easily bar Kurama which requires MS for some bizarre reasons. Genjutsu Kai is also useless. That gives any Uchiha an automatic advantage, as their chakra (its release takes place in the head anyway) is potent enough to work through the Sharingan. Sharingan is an "all-seeing" eye. It automatically sees through Genjutsu. It's a genetic trait.
