It's the heels that are off too. It's something you would expect Adult Sakura to wear

God imagine if they do panty shots.

At least she didn't get Sakura's hair.

So, this is the definitive ranking of best character designs of new gen:

1 - Shinki
2 - Sarada
3 - Mitsuki
4 - ChouChou
5 - Inojin
6 - Kawakeki
7 - rest (Boruto/Himiwiri/Shikadai - just copy and paste of their parents)

I wouldn't mind green eyes or something, but she or they deserved better designs.

They almost look stupid. Like the kind of jumpsuit Naruto stupid.

Kind of like a parody episode xD

I their the goal is to highlight her femininity as way to make her seem less "Hulk Smash.." and more "Yes *****, I Got Super Strength.. but you gotta also remember that she's a partial reflection of her mother and Sakura's style is very feminine/stylish.
Sakura had a feminine style but she never wore mini skirts!

They are doing a disservice by providing a weird presentation early on

True enough, the skirt could be longer but she still looks chic.

I think the mix of Ikemoto and SP designs may lead to a long laughable road.

Let's just cross our fingers for no fairy tail can service. Naruto is one of the few animes that don't have stereotypical hentai-related comical themes.

I don't need to see Adult ninja girls trying to slay with clothing. I feel like simple is better.

Simplicity can also be boring and comes off as uncreative. And I really would enjoy it better if it wasn't too nostalgic. I think part of their weird designs is to bring the perception it's no longer Naruto anymore.

These designs look inappropriate for now, but considering the setting and typically the next generation is always different, it's not too hard to understand. They're no longer in primordial times now. It's to be expected they'll wear fashionable clothes even though it looks overdone.

New Sarada design looks better, imo. The old one was basically pt. 1 Sakura clothes with Uchiha crest. New design is more original, her hair looks better, little adjusts on her glasses, and now she has Sasuke kind of glove + arm warmer.

Agreed.

But that also crosses another border. Creative is new, interesting, and fresh. But at the same time, it could also be too much. Even if they were being simple with their designs: shirt, pants, and shoes. Would that matter if they didn't look flashy? Arguably the worst part of Naruto's design is that he wore a giant flashing jump suit that screamed "I'm here" -- Which caused some controversy due to the ninja theme. Although many argued this was a callback to Goku's signature outfit.

Anyway. I think there can be a good blend between simplicity, and bring creative. Kishimoto did it perfectly.

I feel like the anime in especially are struggling to find their own standing. The Manga comes next too.

Thank God they fixed Sarada's ugly hair from the movie. Thank God for that. They really need to take that scarf out. It doesn't look good at all. I love the Sasuke touches there, especially the wound cloth and the holster teenage Sasuke wore in Konoha. If only they took the cheap pink out to wipe Sakura clean from her design. If only ... overall, a decent design.

I don't like Boruto's design as usual. Those banana hair. What do people even see in this jackass looking kid with a cluster of bananas and an apricot's stem pasted on his head is beyond me. It's as if that fake, fruity wig is waiting to be pulled off by grabbing that stem there.

Mitsuki, as usual, looks the best. Kinda funny, because I can draw way, way better than this. And I am not even a professional artist. That musculature on them is straight up shit. Their arm lines are odd as hell.

I don't get why they didn't stick with her original design.

The Manga design is weird. She looks more girly than Sakura ... but she's mentally stronger than her. So why does she look like a pretty girl?

Mitsuki's looks the closest to Kishimoto's canon. Boruto needs a longer jacket, regular shoes, and I don't like Ikemoto's belts.

But it looks like their max was definitely the Boruto Movie designs.

She is a girl. She shouldn't act like a girl?

Like everyone else, I used to hate Naruto's outfit. It was flashy and insufferably irritating, but that seems to be corrected with Boruto, and Sarada isn't wearing a pink outfit either.

It's not like the designs are permanent, though unfortunately they'll not be changed only a year after Boruto premieres.

Hopefully, it'll be sooner because I'm not feeling them much either, though Sarada is the exception. Hers is a little more different than Boruto's is with Naruto. Mitsuki's looks a tad old-fashioned but is refreshing nonetheless. The blue in his outfit blends exceptionally well with his hair.

Yeah, these are only Ninja Academy arc designs. They may change as the series progresses.

Do you think the designs will get better overtime?

I feel like the adaption is straying closer to the canon, which is the Manga. But that artist seems to have an older style for female characters, and the men like to sport belts that seem lose with very baggy clothing. You can see the mix here.

Anyway as far as canon (Manga) goes, I think they fixed the latter issues of hair, and are grasping body proportions. But they are trying to hard to be creative with the designs. The anime is incorporating simplicity, but it still comes off as awkward.

Though these are just stills. So it's not really big deal I guess? Animation or at least the designs differ based on who is animating that particular episode.

That's usually why our characters never looks consistent.

Acting like a girl is fine. But Sarada isn't a girly girl.

At least IMO.

Pink is the only thing that definitely needs to go. I would have preferred black or purple. At least, she doesn't act like one.

People in the NarutoVerse can't dress for shit.

They look like they stepped out of a Old Navy ad.

Mitsuki gets a pass only because he's wearing some japanese kimono shit.

The worse are a toss up between Sarada and Boruto. My first thought looking at them:

I'm assuming so we can distinguish that this takes place before boruto movie

OT borutos and mitsukis design look relatively the same I'm still not a fan of saradas outfit at first just because it looked inappropriate but how it's drawn here doesn't even look fashionable she might as well wear a potatoe bag with a scarf
