Anyone with a sense of good writing knows that Team 7 getting the amount of focus they got was determent to the manga, as it led to the destruction of Sasuke, Naruto, and Sakura's characters, and it led to Kishi ignoring side characters, other clans, and other countries in order to focus on doing damage control on their broken relationships once he realized how half-hearted they truly were. The saddest part is is that even though they had so much focus, it was still terrible in the end.

You know, the dude even said that he initially planned to have more arcs like the Zabuza arc prior to the Chunnin Exams, but he bent over for his editor's and rushed to the Chunnin Exams right away. Had he stayed his ground like Oda does, we would have had at least 2 or 3 more missions with Team 7 bonding in a FRIENDLY manner before Sasuke defected, helping solidfy an actual bond of freindship between Team 7 prior to Sasuke leaving. but no, like I said, Kishimoto doesn't show, he merely tells. "Sasuke and Naruto are best friends who will die for each other. What? They hated each other no more than 3 or so months ago and haven't had any actual development to show that that has changed in a realistic manner? IDGAF, I'm the author, not you".

There was no forging of bonds between Naruto/Sakura with Sasuke to justify the latter two giving so much care for him that they still pined for him years later. 6 months of petty antagonization isn't enough to justify the blatant obsession Naruto/Sakura had with Sasuke. Naruto and Sakura have no reasons to care for Sasuke, and vise-versa, they've never acted as friends, they don't show ANY of the symptoms of a true friendship (look at Shikamaru with Choji/Naruto or Madara and Hashirama or Kakashi and Gai/Obito) and Kishimoto realized this and hence why he pulled out the "you're lonely, so am I" card to justify Naruto and Sasuke's bond over and over again, despite Naruto not being lonely, and also why he brought up the Senju/Uchiha rivalry, and hence why he made Naruto and Sasuke the incarnations/parallels of not just one, but two pairs of brothers (Hagormo/Hamura, Indra/Ashura) just to attempt damage controlling their so-called "brotherly bond".

You've missed my point entirely, pal. I'm not complaining about Sasuke being corrupted and going rogue by others, I'm saying Naruto and Sakura caring for him so much that they pined for him for years on end is not justified due to the lack of development in bonds between Naruto/Sakura towards Sasuke.

Tobirama's statement was so obviously done to justify Obito and Sasuke's bipolar personalities and to back track and justify why the two fell to evil so easily and for petty reasons. I don't really care if their were other factors that ruined the manga or if the editor did plenty of good things. I know that. All I was pointing out with this is that their should have been more development prior to the Chunnin Exams in order to better justify Naruto/Sakura having a bond of friendship with Sasuke to the extent that Kishimoto portrayed it.
