They are basically love interests, but it's sarada's love interest, and they were never even rivals in the first place and sarada saw him as a friend in the manga up until the end where she is in love with him now. Boruto and Shinki might be rivals and hear me out, shinki may be kawaki due to similar appearances just compare it, and it also hints at the rivalry between kawaki and boruto, but in manga boruto and shink rival hints, and also shinki wanted to go up against a God. Eh eh? But overall in my opinion, or should I say fact. Sarada does have a thing for boruto and they will practically more than likely be married in the future, you know how shonen jumps pairings are lol.
