Why would Momoshiki give Boruto his power?

It doesn't make much sense. It is merely a convenient plot device to boost boruto's strength. Of course they might throw in the cliche he wants to use or steal boruto's body story in there.

A possibility I'm considering is boruto absorbed momoshiki and now can use his powers until momoshiki is healed and might possibly take over borutos body. So maybe this curse seal will turn him to an okutsuki

I think you reached that conclusion too quickly based off of insubstantial evidence considering this is the first chapter and not many details have been given away. Who knows what the seal truly does...
