When you do your own research on HDTVs on many details and later on you find out, you'll realize how stupid it was to rush your decision on buying HDTV a certain one you bought a long time ago. After reading and searching, I came to this priorities in buying HDTV next time.

1. 600Hz or 480Hz at least.
2. Component input.
3. 3 or 4 HDMI inputs at least.
4. Headphone input.

Hz? Really? Why not less than 480Hz?
Because I need it for gaming. Not just watching TV shows. I hope this link below explain why.
Link:

Why you need "Component input", AL?
Because I have a GameCube and a $200 component cable that I bought for picture quality and it is worth it.

What do you need 3 or 4 HDMI inputs for?
Let's see:

- PS4
- PS3
- Laptop to watch anime
- Receiver (I'm tired of plug and unplug the HD cable when I use certain machine)

Why you need a Headphone input on TV?
I wanna hear every detail when I play a GameCube game.

AL, get over retro-consoles and consoles in general for for the love of tites. Get a PC.
Soon, my friend. Soon~!

PS: 4K/2K is bullsh!t 1080p is enough.

I can use Dolphin Emulator if I want, but~ yeah... it doesn't feel fun to me without REAL GameCube...... and component cable.

Games on consoles only run at 60fps. And even PCs will run like at 144 if you put in a lot of money.

Also, it's difficult to find component cables on HDTVs now.

So basically, the refresh rate being more than 144Hz or whatever is a waste.

you do realize that Hdtv's don't actually have 600hz right? Not to mention games on console are locked to 60(or 30), cuz televisions are locked to 60. If input lag is really a problem youre better off getting a crt, and dolphin supports the gamecube controller adapter, and wii remotes and all that jazz so there's little to no reason to still use the legacy system.

I think a low input lag monitor (144Hz and 4k if you want) with a lot of hdmi inputs would be good for your needs.

those things are expensive as fck, but if he isn't playing on pc he's fine with a 60hz.

TBH op, if you're in the market for a new TV, get one that's 4k and supports hdr10. I doubt newer televisions still support analog connections like component/rca.

EDIT:eek:h, and another thing not to sound like a know it all, but 2k=1920x1080. So calling it bs yet saying it's all you need is kinda backwards

What's HDR though? Also, what do you think about OLED?

They don't?

- LG 50PV450 50-Inch 1080p 600 Hz Plasma HDTV
- Panasonic TC-P60VT60 60-Inch 1080p 600Hz 3D Smart Plasma HDTV
- LG Electronics 60PN6500 60-Inch 1080p 600Hz Plasma HDTV (Black) (2013 Model)

They say 600Hz, so I don't know.

Well, let's just say that I at least would use a 600Hz HDTV (if it really exist) for PC in the future.

Nah, I have a SAMSUNG HDTV that it has component input. I'm lucky it is there, so I took advantage of it and bought that expensive Nintendo component cable and use it instead of the composite cable which was horrible. The component cable solves the problem.

I know. Even GameCube games can run 4K/60fps and some mods like "Texture-Pack" to give a game its finest look of graphics thanks to Dolphin. PC just do the wonders, but~ doing it the official way suits me A real GC console and component cable will do me fine. Currently I can't run Dolphin better on my laptop for some reason. Either re-format or get PC with high specs not only for Dolphin, but for other games that run 60fps such MGS5 TPP, RE: Remastered and more games. Building a PC from my opinion should be done once so the PC can keep working for longest time possible until next upgrade(s).

i mean the hz advertized isn't a reflection of its refresh rate. that's still very much 60fps, at best. I've yet to see a TV go over that since there's 0 need to. Broadcast television is 60fps. Games are at best 60fps. They don't make any money going above this for the niche market that hooked their gaming pc to the tele.

Le above and here for further reading:

im sure Cnet is reputable and won't bs you.

its still slower than a crt, since HDTV's are digital. The television itself still has to take time to turn the analog signal(yes component is still analog, not that analog is bad) into a digital signal, along with other post processing techniques(upscaling for example) A crt television is analog to analog, and as such doesn't have to go through the problems above. To put this in perspective the average HDTV has a response time of 10-20 milliseconds, average monitor? 5-8 milliseconds, gaming monitors? even less best i'd say is 1 millisecond . Response time of a crt? 1 microsecond. Its why the people that Play Super smash bros competitively still use em.

i get your point, you need a moderate rig to run it. I have a gtx 1050 ti and a i3 4160(low end rig), and while i haven't ran into to many problems i've only played 2 games so far, super mario sunshine, and smash.

What's HDR though? Also, what do you think about OLED?

High dynamic range, it's basically a wider color gamut.

If oled TV act the same way my oled Galaxy s5 does then i'm on the fence cuz if I turn the brightness down too low the screen catches schizophrenia and starts flashing wildly.
