Ino beat Sakura in love

When Asuma is dying one of the things he tells Ino is to beat Sakura in love/romance. Many people think that since Sakura and Ino were competing for Sasuke at the beginning of the series that since Sakura ended up getting with Sasuke that she won. The narrative is that Ino was forced to settle with Sasuke's lesser replacement in Sai. It is true that Sasuke is a more important character who is also much stronger than Sai. The thing is that I believe that Ino ultimately was much better off in the end marrying Sai instead. Sai is actually around living with Ino and actually took a role in raising and training their child. Also while he is somewhat socially awkward he is the kind of person that would probably read a bunch of books about being the best husband and father that he can be and would put the effort in to be good to Ino.

Sasuke on the other hand comes across as somebody that does not care at all. Getting past the murder attempts and how poorly he treated Sakura most of the series, Sasuke seems like he would rather live the life of a single hermit than a married man with a child. He literally abandons Sakura for a decade with little to no contact for sketchy reasons forcing Sakura to live the life of a single mother raising her child by herself. Even when he is a round he seemingly would rather do anything else like being with Naruto or training Boruto. He certainly is not particularly intimate to Sakura and they may have not even kissed. So I ask you just because Sakura got Sasuke did she really win in the romance department over Ino?

A victory is someone loving you and actually expressing it. Sasuke has yet to do that to Sakura nor has he ever called her beautiful or took her on a first date so yeah, Ino is winning.

You don't have to be visually affectionate or passionate to express love. That just isn't Sasuke's way of doing things. Sasuke does not seem like the type of person to waste time having a child and marrying someone that he does not love.

A random pairing is still better than a trash pairing with negative development that ultimately makes both sides look bad. Ino and Sai may have no development but Sasusaku has negative development. Just Ino being able to move on from Sasuke alone makes her a winner.

Of course they'll have no history. Not only are they less than side characters but Sai didn't pop up until Shippuden. Kishimoto could have fleshed it out but like he said "This shit ain't no romance story" so he didn't waste time doing it. Well let's not get ahead of ourselves. In the end the order of character importance is Naruto followed by Sasuke and then a significant gap from there. It's not like Hinata is an important character either. It's just initially I think in Kishi's mind if their was going to be a pairing at the end it was only going to be the one that involved Naruto the main character. If that was Naruhina then that is what he picked but he did not even develop that too well in the end with it being the only one really planned. The others really just seemed forced after his late decision to make a next generation of kids that are all the same age. With that he needed to force pairing for Sasuke and the Ino-Shika-Cho team which is how you get the likes of ChojiX Karui.

Since the beggining of the manga I prefered Ino over Sakura. She was beautiful,was able to rival her male partners, had deadly and refined techs , everything a kunoichi should represent in this anime. Even off scenes she managed to solo.

Sakura was already mentally unstable and has no self respect to have married a guy who tried to kill her so many times and never reciprocated her feelings towards him. Sasuke just married her and gave her a test tube baby with Oro's help imo so that she stops chasing after him and let him be in peace. On the other hand Ino and Sai are a happy family. So yeah Sakura lost.
