There were so many things Naruto was being hyped up for in the manga that we never really got to see. When we learned that Naruto had wind natured chakra and that it was best for close quarters fighters, I thought he would start learning a bunch of techniques like what we saw from Temari and Danzo, but outside of his rasenshuriken it was barely ever mentioned that he even had a chakra nature at all.
Then there were the chakra blades Asuma showed him and the chakra sword and chakra enhanced kunai/shuriken. Again, something really cool and wind natured that would fit his fighting style extremely well and he was perfectly capable of learning, but it was never seen again after he learned it.
Summons were a big let down, too. Naruto could summon any toad, from the chief toad to ma and pa to the smaller, armored battletoads (lol), but we rarely ever see him summon anything. Would've been a cool addition to some fights to see Naruto working in tandem with multiple summons.
Most disappointing of all was his sage mode. We saw an imperfect sage mode from Jiraiya and how it went toe to toe with the leader of the Akatsuki who also held the legendary rinnegan. We saw sage art techniques from Kabuto, yet nothing from Naruto outside of "Sage art: bigger rasengans!" Would've been pretty dope to see some new jutsu worthy of the title of "sage art". And not to mention Frog Kata, the most OP taijutsu. Not a single person could stand up to a one-shot attack they can't see coming but we never see Naruto use it outside of his one punch on one pain body.
There was so much we could've seen that would've added to Narutos character and his rep, but it's just lame that we never got to see anything other than shadow clones and rasengan variants
