Life is all about deteriming what means most to you, and applying it to your everyday goal by goal.

What societal issues motivate you the most to endeavor pursuing a profession geared towards fixing these problems?

What relative industries do you consider to pursue this goals.

For me, I'd like to work for the clean energy sector designing more efficient, clean, green, and economical solutions to power production. Now I understand that our oil reserves are in extreme abundance. But in the long term, the adverse effects of using these sources will aid in the adverse change in climate, regardless of unreliable models depicting a rise in global temps.

it is evident the co2 emissions will continue to deplete the o-zone resulting in an increase flux of incident radiation on earth, inherently raising temps.

WBU?

Same here; I want to contribute something towards improving solar energy efficiency.

It's on the rise to.

Plus its prices are dropping. I'm also an advocate for nuclear power generation. Totally renewable (relatively) and emission free. Maybe improving on maintenance methods and disposal could be the future. But with trump around US is fukk for the next 4 yrs sadly.

Well, it would be better just to research on making more efficient solar cells, because it would be a lot cheaper than nuclear.

But yeah, seeing as how Trump just cut government funding on scientific researches, it'll have to wait.

18% more C02 is produced from livestock farms than automobile emissions across the world. You'd do more for the environment just eating vegetables, and encouraging others to do so as well. Other major contributing factors include increased population sizes (more livestock farms, more vehicles, more pollution), volcanoes, and natural changes to the Earth's atmosphere.

OT: I think most people here know what my job is, and the need is greater than the resources.

Solar may be cheaper, but nets much less rad flux compared to nuclear power. The implementation of tracking systems only further this cost of solar with only slight improvement of efficient, whereas, after the upfront cost of producing a nuclear plant is expensive, its efficiency in power production offsets this additional cost, especially in the long run, since these plants can operate well beyond 60 yrs.

Both provide valid alternatives and should be the forefront of clean energy. And when used in congruence, net emissions would drop substantially.

So is this a field your looking to get into?

That 18% is negligible when compared to the 71% of co2 emissions from coal, 28% emission from natural gas for energy production.

If you really want to solve the problem eating vegetables is the wrong answer.

Actually, near the Equator, i.e., tropical countries, it'd be far more efficient and environment friendly to use solar energy.

Also, good quality solar cells can last upto many years without a drop in their efficiency.

And yes, I do want to work in this field.
