My opinion:
The thing is that the equipment and materials are very expensive because they are not mass produced and require very niche and expert resources. Industry R&D need not be government funded because they focus only on small things like "le how to increase battery life in smartphones", but real researches like nuclear fusions need to be funded by government to reach their maximum potential.

Not only will scientists leave the country, but the prospective students and scientists might not be as enticed to do their research in the States.

Trump also stated that the 14th Amendment involving Due Process is unconstitutional, which protects us from unlawful arrest and our rights as citizens. He wants to get rid of it and if that happens, then we are definitely screwed.

My Intro To Law class was talking about it today. This is ridiculous. Trump basically wants to appease our forefathers, who supported Slavery and all kinds of nonsense.

Yep. He has a lot of support. If the 14th Amendment is stripped out of the Constitution then that means law enforcement can arrest us on illegal grounds even for false crimes. And then there's more:

.States and the Federal Government can strip us of our rights and freedoms by having the freedom to pass absurd laws and regulations that can oppress us and violate our civil rights as citizens of this country.

.People's pensions will be affected.

There will be so much damage if this happens. Revolution, including a race war will be inevitable. This will allow the government to enable Martial Law throughout the country.
