SPOILER WARNER IF YOU DONT WANNA KNOW THE ENDING DONT READD THIS

I hate how they all ****ing died, it still feels like ardyn won because all he wanted was to see noct suffer and he did, he died and so did all of his friends, andd his bloodline ended. like wtf dude. I mean it's a good story but i'm a lil salty lol. I feel like noct should have knocked up Iris though, to keep the Lucis Caelum bloodline going.

Well Gladios Dlc probably covers the time he disappeared, so its possible the other dlc are similar in that regard. They're definitely dead, at least until they go through with changing the ending.

It's called a bittersweet ending. You're both right and wrong when you said Ardyn got what he wanted: The King and the Crystal are now gone. The royal bloodline ended with Noctis, and I'm not sure how it works with the Oracles but if it is also a bloodline thing then that's over with as well.

However on the flip side Noctis was successful in ending the Starscourge - be it at the cost of his life. I personally love the ending, as well as the game as a whole. After sinking about 60 hours into the open world section of the game (before going onto the linear section of the story), bonding with the characters and getting to know how they interact with each other in the (brilliantly executed) little bits of dialogue randomly scattered throughout the open world, I was honestly quite emotionally invested in their journey. By the second half of the game rolled around and these characters started drifting apart, it took quite a toll on me emotionally and then by the end when everyone makes their sacrifices for the greater good... not gonna lie I teared up a bit.

Is it perfect? No. I really wish they were able to expand upon a lot of the world building, and especially the empire's goals and overall side of the story. Especially in the second half of the game. However it does accomplish it's bottom line - if you sink in the hours to grow attached to the characters like I did.

The ending is what makes the story of Noctis much more tragic. Like it or not, it was well done. The bits inbetween the beginning and the ending should've been much better, the two by themselves were very strong. For a while I didn't like Ardyn very much as a character, but I've developed my own view on him that makes him a little more likeable and sympathetic. I see him as, very much, an anti-hero. True, his goal was to enact revenge on the gods for turning their backs on him, but I believe that by assisting Noctis in his duty as the True King and indirectly helping to end the cycle of Kings being born and the inevitable Starscourge, he ultimately attained that revenge by proving to them that he could complete his duty as a King of Lucis, whether they supported him or not. That's why I believe he didn't kill Noctis immediately. Because his human side was ultimately the stronger, and that he would obtain a moral victory over the gods. It was his daemonic side that made him more prone to violence and sadistic acts against Noctis and the party.

Noctis's bros did die. They died fighting those demons at the end.
They along with Luna appeard to help Noctis kill Ardyn in the after life.

OT - My second best game of 2016.
Also the final fight was so epic and badass.

Ohdont get me wrong, it was a masterfully crafted story, and a great game, im still playing and enjoying it. I just hated that noctis and friends had to give their lives that way.

I love the game, don't get me wrong, I dont mean to give a bad review of it. The story was masterfully crafted, and the game is a lot of fun, i just hated to see the ill fate that befell characters i grew attatched to.

It's left inconclusive that the party gave their lives at the end. But I highly doubt that they'd be unable to fend off those giants by themselves. As Kingsglaive, it just seems a little unrealistic. Also, not much time passed between Noctis entering the Citadel and purging Ardyn's spirit and therefore ending the Starscourge. I believe that they lived, but they may very well have died.

They are dead, they were there in the afterlife to help him purge ardyn.

I think that was metaphorical. Because they didn't do anything, only the spirit of Luna and Noctis did.

I'm in the belief they're not dead, the game goes out of its way to just show Luna and noct at the end doesn't it? I'd like to think if the guys had died too that they would of been there at that "ceremony" plus it makes more sense noct is taking a picture with him if he's the only one dying. That being said the game was awesome, there was some missteps in the later chapters but on the whole I loved it. It was bittersweet and seeing noct finally turn into the king he was meant to be just to give it all up to save his people was pretty sad and kinda made the whole "last road trip" thing more impactful(to me anyhow)

They ain't dead. There had been several videos and threads about it. Then the creator said you have to wait for DLCs to find out what truly happen to them.

My issue is more so that the story felt rushed for a game that was 7 years in development. Luna was... meh, and her and Noctis are almost on the level of a Naruto pairing when it comes to development.

Expected more, but it's not a bad game.

95% sure that the 3 Bros DLC will take place during the 10 year gap while Noctis was away.
