Hashirama was either resistant to genjutsu, as powerful he was it's not suprising. He won every battle with madara, and spend almost his entire life in war with uchihas so he had to be aware of the sharingan's true potential, (izanagi, amaterasu, tsukuyomi, susanno, etc..)
