People date online to find people who are also looking for relationships easier, not because they lack confidence. Some people just don't feel they're gonna find the perfect someone conveniently in life so they go to greater measures to look. Others don't have large social circles or go to bars and shit.

For some it's just a way to make sure they are attractive enough, to see what kind of girls/guys like them
On the other hand I know people that got into a relationship trough these methods and it ended up ok
So it all depends on how and with who are you talking on that app

Just another tool to meet ppl.......embrace technology....some ppl work out, some don't, just like with meeting someone while out and about.......best approach is to meet ppl on AND offline.....all a numbers game.
