Alright, here's everything I remember, starting from Zeke escaping at Shiganshia
Armin almost dies, gets Titan'd up, eats Berthold. Erwin almost dies, then does.
We find out what's in the basement: Grisha was from outside the wall. Because Titan Shifters pass down memories, Eren goes into Flashback Mode.
The civilisation outside the wall, Marley/Mare, is basically Nazi Germany.
Titans were created a gazillion years ago when Ymir Fritz made a deal with the devil *Cough* BULLSHIT *Cough*. Her decendants form the nation of Eldia/Elodia, and conquer the universe with Titan powers. They are refered to as "Ymir's People".
There are 9 Titan Shifters descended from Ymir Fritz. We know of 7 for sure, being the Attack Titan (Eren's), The Armoured Titan, The Colossal Titan, The Female Titan, The Whatever Ymir's Titan is Titan, The Beast Titan, and the Co-ordinate which now part of Eren as well.
About a billion years ago, the last king of Eldia decided to run away to hide on Paradis Island and and make the walls. He uses the Co-Ordinate to create the walls with millions of Colossal Titans as a deterrent to attack.
Grisha is part of Le Resistance against Marley, trying to Make Eldia Great Again. He meets a girl named Dina Fritz. They ****. They decide the best thing to do is sell their only son out to be a soldier for Marley. This goes terribly wrong and they are betrayed. Apparently brainwashing children to believe in your cause is a bad idea. And that's where Zeke comes from.
Everyone in Le Resitance is turned into a Titan and sent at the walls. Dina Fritz becomes the smiling titan that ate Eren's Mom. Grisha is almost executed, but gets rescued by "The Owl", a Titan Shifter Badass undercover. The Owl's name is Eren Krueger, presumably who Grisha named Eren after. He has the "Attack Titan" so it's pretty clear that Grisha's going to eat him and get his powers. Owl mentions Mikasa and Armin, and no one has any idea where that shit comes from. Might be time travel, might be Titan Memories working backwards. Either way, no one knows yet.
As for why the bad guys are attacking the wall: The same reason everyone attacks everything these days. Oil. Marley figured that Titans wouldn't be as effective as they used to be when fighting against jet planes. So they want to retake Paradis Island because it's got a tonne of natural resources needed to fuel their industrial revolution.
