Hopefully since it has been a good part of a year since he was introduced and it was only two pages they decide to retcon him out by saying that it was all a dream or something. There really is no commitment to Kawaki at this point and I am sure with all this time they can come up with a better story than whatever would lead to Kawaki being important.
