Low confidence/self-esteem. Is that all what the use of make-up amount to in the end??? Make-up is used by females to become more beautiful/attractive. Does this mean that you perceive yourself to be ugly by some standard or you aren't confident enough to step out with your natural beauty? You think you're not attractive so you use it to feel good about yourself? Or you've just decided it's the norm to use make-up,so you oblige? Ladies, please enlighten moi. Why do you use make-up?

NO, I use it as a form of art. But that's me. Others do need it for boosting of self confidence.

My roommate literally just told me the other day about how he realized how ugly his girl looked without makeup.

So I guess girls are insecure.

There is nothing wrong with wanting to fix yourself up. It has nothing to do with low self esteem.

I never said it's wrong or right. If you want to fix something that means you're not satisfied with what's already there and it still amounts to confidence.

not really... i mean ppl don't work out for lack of self confidence but 9/10 they weren't satisfied with the capabilities of their body prior to their training regiment.

Exercise is different. Every human need to exercise to stay fit and healthy, regardless of whether you have body issues or not

Make-up is a form of self-care and hygiene for many women, so I would say it was a reasonable comparison. Not every human needs exercise anyway; many people have not exercised and continued to exist.

These sentences are contradictory, or at least because of the way you worded the bold. And it has plenty to do with low self esteem, whether or not that's the reason you do it, lots of women use it to hide behind it more so than they do to just look a little better.

It's a colloquialism for grooming. If you comb your hair before going out is it because you are insecure about your physical appearance? Make-up may hide some skin blemishes and wrinkles, but that's it - not enough to placate any deep emotional self-esteem issues. It is a form of grooming and hygiene that is cultural for a lot of women; it is not a mask.

I don't think that will make them any more confident than they usually is ( in my guy perspective ) though some use it to enhance their looks anyway If a woman can smile more then they will look more attractive and nothing captures the mind of a man as a true smile of a woman .

The standard ideal of a woman's looks is with make up. Girls who put on makeup just wish to look better and it definitely is just the norm now. Girls are probably insecure to not wear makeup when going out though. But it's not like some deep rooted problem though.

It's a poor woman's plastic operation
Plastic surgery can't replace makeup, they serve different purposes. A person who has had plastic surgery still wears makeup.

Depends. As far as I know, most use it to make themselves look more attractive.

I know it isn't a problem, but when looking deeply at it,all it amounts to is not being satisfied by how you look. I know some people who look very beautiful naturally but still use make-up. Mayybe it's just a part of their lives, but that is weird.

Make-up and hygiene??? Make-up is in no way hygienic and if you don't exercise and keep your body fit you aren't going to live long.

It's a part of the a social dichotomy humans have developed from biological drive to breed and passing down genes. Men work out, get high paying jobs, and own a house or a car, etc.. Women stay in shape, wear make up, and own nice clothes and shoes, etc.. It's not as black and white in today's society, but it's the core on which humanity has survived by, for thousands of years.

It's just ****ing fun.

We don't always have to psycho-analyze makeup wearers. There are people who wear it to feel more confident and to impress others, and there are people who just enjoy wearing makeup. I personally find it relaxing to apply. I enjoy the transformation process. But I don't feel the need to understand why other people wear it; I just accept the fact that they do.
