Yeah, just work at a better job for better wages. Minimum wage shouldn't be a problem.
Except that's not a realistic solution.

And I just explained to you that if the minimum wage kept up with inflation, it would be over $10.

And there is absolutely no hard evidence that raising the minimum wage would cause job loss; actually it would cause an economic growth and this has been proven by both economists and actual real world occurrences.

Why can't you accept that?

Raising minimum wage is stupid.
Slowly raising the minimum wage over the years has proven to be a good thing for the economy. It's only "stupid" if it's an immediate sharp increase since companies will either fire some employees or increase the price of their goods and services so that their bottom line doesn't get hurt. This world runs on companies trying to keep their shareholders happy, and if they aren't happy, it reflects in our economy.

When you roll a ball down the hill, do you not already know what the outcome would be or do you need to wait and see for it happen?

When Trump appoints Ben Carson to lead the Housing and Urban Development, even though Ben Carson himself said he does not want an executive position because he does not have the qualifications necessary and will totally mess it up, do you not know or at the every least make an educated guess that it will already be a disaster?

In what way does asking for a livable wage correlate with asking for free stuff?

You do realize that if we kept up with inflation for the minimum wage since 1968, it would be over $10 an hour right?
from what I can tell you seem to be preoccupied with what should be and not what is.

Yes the minimum wage should have kept up with inflation, but it hasn't, and many businesses have built their company around the current wage. Telling them "this is what it should have been all along" doesn't really help when you all at once have to start giving your employees much more money than you originally planned for. If there was going to be a change then it would have to be done gradually and seriously just because 66% want something doesn't make a good argument. Its more money :| most ppl aren't going to turn down more money no matter what the reason.

Anyway I probably should have posted the link to the video rather that just the video seeing how she has a bunch of sources there......and of all places pls don't try to use a website as openly biased as Huff post.

TL;DR version though is that raising minimum wage has little effect on the poor, mostly puts more money in the hands of teens and young adults who are not the main providers in their household, and with the last wage increase as a model may not stimulate job growth at all, but instead cause more businesses to cut out more lower paid entry level positions.

If you really want to help the poor we have systems in place that directly assists those living at or near the poverty line. That sounds a lot better than potentially getting them axed don't ya think?

And just to be fair raising minimum wage isn't a bad thing, it will certainly increase spending which will boost revenue, and even the wages at us not stuck near the bottom, but more than anything we need more jobs. More jobs mean more money into the system, more help for the poor and elderly, and those at minimum wage positions are at least given a foot hold to strive for something better.

Lastly if minimum wage is to increase it should be done moderately and gradually keeping a close eye on the effect so as to minimize adverse effects

How gradual are we talking? A dollar every 5 years? What if inflation goes up again?

If the economy does not keep up within a 3% parameter of inflation, then there are dire effects to that, which most often leads to a crash. And as of right now, we are barely keeping up within that margin.

So you're saying the minority or 1% percent should be in charge of knowing what is best for everyone else, rather than having an actual Democracy and listening to what the people want?

As for your links. Yeah, $10 an hour would not keep workers out of poverty, which is why people are fighting for a $15 minimum wage which is considered to be a livable wage. But to go even further, have the minimum wage reflect each states standard of living. So in like New York, it would be higher because of how much more expensive it is to live there as opposed to say Kansas.

Your other link is essentially just giving the old story about how minimum wage is for young people, even though that still does not justify how low it is in any way whatsoever.

The next link tries to implement how minimum wage causes job loss, even though that is literally a myth which has been debunked by real world occurrences, as per the link I posted; A study of 13 states raising their minimum wage. That is just one of many examples.

Any job loss that associates with the minimum wage are for business that were already failing and would have failed regardless of the increase in the minimum wage. It's just cherry picked data.

The same link even states that the whole restaurants losing jobs due to the minimum wage was not even concrete and they're just making an assumption.

The last link, I'm not even sure what to make of that data or how to respond as I'm not really sure of the point you're trying to make?

13 states raised the minimum wage and that helped the poor pretty greatly....

Don't see how it matters what age group you're in? If you work full time, you should be paid a wage you survive on, and not have to rely on government programs. Most retail jobs pay you less than $15 an hour and they sure as hell are not filled with only young people.

So you think welfare is more practical than having a fair wage that pays for your efforts and which can at least grant the ability to sustain oneself with basic needs?

I really don't understand why people are so against raising the minimum wage when in almost every instance it was raised, the positives far, and I mean far outweigh the negatives.

And yeah, I agree, we do need more jobs. But we also need to increase the minimum wage.

Mnuchin is the only cabinet pick I HEAVILY disagree with. Bankers are a huge no for me, but I can deal with the rest of his cabinet. What will be interesting is how Mnuchin will play his cards once he is seated. It's only a test of time. As long as Trump isn't placing Muslim education in schools, it is fine by me.

Would it rising slowly still matter though? Prices will still rise.

no it hasn't. The evidence is inconclusive on both side. I can site studies suggesting job loss too, it doesn't make an economic consensus

and the coup de grace

Your dumbass is looking at the minimum wage as if it's the actual wage the majority of americans are making.

Only 4% of americans make minimum wage. When you get to talking about inflation as if you know something, use the proper wage

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average American worker got paid $24.57 per hour in December, or $850.12 per week. That was up from $24.17 per hour and $829.03 per week a year ago.

Ok great?

That still doesn't justify any wage being lower than $15 an hour.

That's like saying, well most people have houses, so **** everyone else is what you're saying.

So you're ok with Ben Carson being the head of Housing and Urban Development, even though he himself stated that he doesn't want any executive position because he isn't qualified and will mess it up?

Are you ok with Scott Pruitt being the head of the EPA, even though he's a staunch Climate Change Denier who is currently suing the EPA and wants to repeal even the Clean Air and Clean Water Acts?

Are you ok with Betsy Devos to be the Secretary of Education, who literally does not believe in public education and wants creationism to be taught over evolution?

Are you ok with Linda McMahon, a former WWE Wrestler, to be the head of the Small Business Administration?

Are you ok with Michael Flynn to be the National Security Advisor, even though he believes and propagates conspiracies including the recent Pizzagate scandal which lead to a shooting?

Are you ok with Steve Bannon, the former head of Breibart, the central news hub for White Nationalist Alt-Right movement, to be his Chief Strategist, one of the top two advisory positions?

Literally, every pick is either diametrically opposed to the position they were put on or just constitutionally inept in their role.

All of these picks are just lobbyists and none of them have the qualifications for it.

You can't possibly tell me that you are just totally ok and will give your full trust to them to run the country.

Most of the claims you made were rumors, and Breitbart isn't white nationalist either. I could care less about Climate Change, as the US dropping out is fine, technology to manipulate the weather is already underway, if not complete. Of course, some of your claims were true, but Mnuchin is by far the largest problem that I have.

How are they rumors. Please explain?

Breibart not White Nationlist? Really? I mean....****ing really? lol

What kind of drugs are you on? Did Alex Jones tell you this? Global Warming isn't just about weather and to the scale of technology you're talking about isn't even possible at this point....at all.

That's like saying, you'll survive cancer because the cure is already on its way....

Do you not know how ridiculous your statement is?

Every single peer reviewed piece of science, done from organizations around the world, have to come to the conclusion that Climate Change is the biggest threat the human civilization has ever faced. And if we don't do take serious action soon, then it's estimated that in about 50 years we'll start facing the full repercussions of Global Warming which can potentially wipe out the entire race in a 100 years.

You clearly read over or ignored what I said about weather technology, and trying to insult me doesn't make your argument any stronger. You thinking Breitbart is white nationalist tells me where you are already, and I certainly can't bring you back. Sure, it may have some dumb articles, but it is not white nationalist - which is a VERY serious claim.

-Mahon was never a wrestler, she actually was a business magnate

-Ben Carson stepped back on such a claim - he didn't want to be general surgeon, and he knows government housing

-Breitbart is not white nationalist

What did I miss about your weather comment? You stated that weather manipulation tech was underway if not nearly complete. And yeah I made fun of you for such a comment.

So McMahon is a perfect pick to lead the small business administration right?

So Ben Carson stepped back from that comment after he got the position? Kinda like how Trump stepped back from promising to prosecute Hillary Clinton after he got elected?

In what way does Ben Carson know about housing. Do tell?

You're missing a few people I've mentioned....

So when Breibart makes headlines such as "Hoist It High And Proud: The Confederate Flag Proclaims A Glorious Heritage" or "Why white people seek Black Privelage" and makes articles about how interracial relationships are abhorrent and strokes fear about refugees and immigrants....

And when the man who is credited for starting the Alt-Right Movement, literally holds a Neo Nazi rally and says "Heil Victory, Heil Trump" with people raising the Nazi salute.

You're telling me that none of that is white nationlist? Is the sky not blue?

Ah... the leftists cries are like the most beautiful music to my ears, dont DARE you stop!
You're a perfect example as to why children shouldn't vote. If winning and boosting your little ego is all you care about, then you shouldn't be anywhere near politics.

Politics isn't a game....grow up.

hmm, yeah its looking grim

i feel like he put some of those people in those positions out of spite because he has the power to do so. totally something a business man would do towards someone who was against him. i mean why else give someone the job in a area they wanted gone and thought was useless, total power trip

the scariest thing is trump himself, his temperment and how that will be taken on a world stage. hes still trying to be a business man while being president, no others did that. what happens if one of his towers he has all around the world gets bombed? is that war now?

also all this Russian bullshit and them hacking the election..idk, i try to be optimistic

Well part of it might of been spite, but most of them are in the position they are because they were lobbyists for the Trump campaign. Betsy Devos, for example, donated millions to the Trump campaign.

Well at the moment, there is only evidence that points to hackers from Russia, not explicitly the Russian government hacking the election.

Not only that, but the FBI warned the DNC a YEAR before the election that one of their computers was compromised and that they needed to beef up their cyber security, which they obviously completely ignored.
