The era of violence that Naruto broke was what at least 1,000 years?

This might be proposing the larger question of what are the new disparate elements that must find cooperation?

If this is basically twenty years after the beginning of a new cycle, then maybe we have a very long time until the era reveals itself or it's larger theme become apparent.

Narutos proposition to Sasuke was a large scale collaboration of ninja working towards peace.

The question to be answered is if Naruto's hypothesis was correct, will ninja guide humanity to peace, does the village system have the durability to last over vast periods of time?

There were also very difficult questions about the long term stability of the smaller nations and the series left a nagging question.

Who replaced Akatsuki in Amakagure? How did that power vacuum resolve itself?

To see the faces of the Hokage erased is indicative of a major revolution, different from Naruto's method of cooperation.

A literal erasure of history and of the Will of Fire.

Perhaps the shattering of the cycle begun by Indra and Ashura simply paved the way for a new world.

Perhaps martial knowledge and military states are not adequate enough to bring the idyllic or utopian peace at the heart of all of this discussion.

But to say Naruto failed is a bit over the top. He was prophesied to stop a cycle which would lead to an end of violence coming from a certain source. In that he succeeded and even gave all of the world an opportunity to try again to find peace and understanding.

Can it be said that all humans in every time after the fourth ninja war have the capacity that Naruto has to achieve a stillness, acceptance of his own hatred and to understand that their value is nothing without a great community and context?

Can they all become sages? (and not the like woah my fireballs are f'n huge now cuz of nature chakra, I mean the greater religious implications of achieving stillness and the conquering of hatred and blossoming of empathy...)

It seems like an absurdly tall order.

To presume as much would lead to making the wrong conclusion and even asking the wrong questions about what the series was trying to communicate.

Honestly it isn't really fair to blame naruto on this one. it's kishi's fault. the fact he more or less made naruto not change anything at all but didn't think without any long term logic that future of kages might once represent what created villains in the first place is personally a slap to nagato's, sasuke's, neji's, hinata's and in some ways gaara's face. but then again it's to be expected from kishi. What he should had done was keep naruto's ideals the same but factor in sasuke's realism as well. by removing the kages from empowerment not keep shit the same.
