Regulated suicide refers to the act of receiving assistance when you believe you should end your life through a medical team.Regulated suicide will be monitored closely and legally to ensure everything runs smoothly.Regulated suicide patients that are below a certain age and do not suffer from a physical illness will be forced to go through various therapy sessions before finally deciding if they want to carry on with ending their life. Here is my argument for why we should have this system put in place.
What are your opinions on if regulated suicide should be allowed? Do you have any counter arguments as to why it shouldn't be?
I believe that regulated suicide could save and help more people than harm. One of the rules to regulated suicide would be to attend anti-suicide courses and get psychological assistance if the reason for their suicide is mental. I believe that this would assist many people in making the correct decision and could quite possibly save thousands of lives. The people that wish to die in a clean non-complicated way without hurting the public will be motivated to go through this process with "clean" suicide being their reward. However, on the way to their rewards I believe that many will be changed and helped, overall decreasing the suicide numbers. Those who could not be helped will end their life with dignity and not an animalistic way like hanging and stabbing themselves with kitchen knives.
Another reason I believe regulated suicide should be legal is because when the person seeking to die does not have a system to go through, they often commit to a public death which often traumatize and leaves many people around them scarred for life. Whether it is by-passer or the train driver they often feel guilty and it remains a part of their life until the day they die which can cause many psychological problems.Even with the indoor cases, family members find themselves in terrible positions after discovering their loved ones hanging from the ceiling or in a pool of blood. Legalising regulated suicide would prevent many of these cases as you would end many random suicide discoveries and public suicides.
Another reason why I am for regulated suicide is because it often just complicates and doesn’t prevent people from suicide. If a person wants to suicide, they will do it and there are not many that can stop that. I think preventing them from taking the right course to achieve their goals makes their process more painful as the fashion which it is done in is often not the best. It also wastes a tremendous amount of time. One way being that after a lot of suicides cases, the police get involved in investigating the situation and end up covering a suicide case when they could be looking at an active case that can be prevented or helped.
In conclusion:
If we move forward as we are right now then there are going to be more and more instances of people killing themselves and scarring innocent lives. If we were to make regulated suicide available, the people that want to suicide in a clean manner would have to go through some sessions before being allowed so it could decrease the numbers of suicide. If everything fails and their reasons are valid, It can be conducted in a controlled way with the least harm. By not making regulated suicide available, you're not preventing suicide, you're only making it harder, literally more painful and gross for others.Suicide is something that seems to touch most people one way or another, I do not think we can move forward with current system as it's becoming so common and not many things are being done about it.
