Ok so recently(and for the first time) I've read people say ems is a from a fusing of both eyes(sasuke & itachis, mads & izunas). I've never even considered this to be a possibility and am wondering where people got this from. I've always thought it came from transplanting a siblings eyes(although the only time it's worked is for transmigrants). My thought has been that since the receiver of the eyes already has unlocked mangekyo(sharingan itself is caused by special chakra after all, feelings for ms) as well as the giver, since the eyes given have already unlocked an ms, it would make sense(to me anyhow) that when those eyes are put into a sibling socket that has also unlocked his own ms, that the chakra that made the recipients ms would mix with the existent chakra in the eyes creating the combined ms design. Anyhow I was just curious on the bases thoughts on this. Personally I think it's just a transplant that fulfills the right requirements and not a fusion of the eyes. But if there's something that says other wise or people have good reasoning id like to read that too

TL;DR, do you think it's a transplant or a fusion to get ems

Yea I said fusion that has always been my interpretation but maybe it's not so. I just thought two ms gives an eternal one but if you remove the first you are back to square one. I never heard of them saying that you remove the first eyes either just that you go blind but I could be wrong.

It's a transplant, sasuke has itachi's eyes in his head, and madara/nagato had izuna's eyes

I used to think fusion was a possibility, and it still is I suppose, but it's been heavily implied through both Databook and manga that it's just a transplant. What decided it for me was when Sasuke exclaimed to Itachi that the eyes in his sockets were the latter's. The reason people suspect fusion is because it completes the story more, since we're not told where the old eyes go or why Uchiha fought for each other's eyes if they could just trade (though I can't recall if this tale is just a lie from Itachi or the truth).

What makes people think that though?
Imo like this plus the pattern is the combination

It could still be Itachi's eyes in there even if he didn't remove his own.

Well I always remember reading it has to be a siblings eyes, which I thought was the only requirement, then another member(blaclord I believe) told me that despite this out of all that tried only transmigrants have achieved it(which is true) so I think that might be another requirement, and a more important one. The manga always refers to it as a transplant but at the same time it never mentions sasukes nor mads blind ms eyes, so there's that

It's a transplant, sasuke has itachi's eyes in his head, and madara/nagato had izuna's eyes

This is the way I've always seen it as well

imo its just a transplant. the new pattern happens, because the transplanted eye still has the dna of its old host which mixes with the new dna, thus creating a new pattern. but the eye itself doesnt "fuse". it iss just transplanted.

Then maybe Sasuke's eyes are destroyed in the process.

And thus showing that you have to venture into creating stuff up in order to solidify the theory. It would just be introducing some magical ritual of combining organs that doesn't make sense without an explanation from the manga.

This is a good point, I forgot about sasuke telling itachi they where his eyes. People wanting it to fit more into the story makes sense as well I just always say as straightforward until I saw the fusion thing

This is pretty much exactly how I think it works as well, the new pattern emerging from the eyes already having one and the new host having one as well, and like you said, creating a new combined design

No I was trying to take your side. But if it is a fusion, then that means he has his own + Itachi's eyes in there so you could still say they are Itachi's eyes.
Because it is Itachi's and Sasuke's. If you know what I mean.

Hell Madara was changing eyes like socks and he never fused anything.

Uh because his eye's was already evolved into Rinnegan. How would implanting Obito's MS fuse with nothing?
