Really Zamasu was a decent character and villain but Black was the eye candy man.
The time limit should of applied to merged zamasu too but longer than an hour since he was half mortal.
They reseal zamasu somehow, maybe into the sword instead of that genki dama.
Goku and Vegeta too pooped to finish off black after fighting zamasu as Vegito.
Trunks lands the finishing blow on Black from rage boost + everyone's energy + weakened black.
Somehow that random time space kept an undetectable essence of Black alive.
He stays low to recover and continues to watch goku and friends live, as well as see future trunks & co rebuild in peace. he begins to once again doubt his beliefs on mortals but denies it.
after like two arcs he ignites a new plot focused on the demon realm. All them blue demon makaioshin whatever people from xenoverse appear.
This would be his namek saga where his plans backfire and he's forced to work with the good guys.
He fights Vegeta again to prove his own identity & his newly made history of battle in reference to Vegeta's lecture in the trunks arc. (Claiming he's now neither Goku nor Zamasu)
He wins yet again only to spare them and vanish once more.
Reappears in later arc to assist heroes. Finally acknowledges they are allies.
*optional* Joins them in 12 verse tourney. With them or with his own team.
I think that would of been a good story and development for Black. We haven't had a major villain turn good since Vegeta. Android 18 too but she still doesn't count.
