Also, it's true that DB(Z) paved the way for modern anime, but it's not the greatest - far from it. As someone who didn't watch it as a child, I hold no sentiment nor rose-tinted specs, and can say that DB had major pacing issues. Even watching Kai, all major fights were dragged out and boring a lot of the time. The same pattern always prevailed.

One Piece has all those advantages, grated, but lets not forget the time frames which ultimately plays a part in these things in terms of which fans these days require.
