Chapter Title: "Luffy Vs. Sanji"

Double Page: 1 and 2

Luffy: "What do you mean you'll drive me off, Sanji?!"

Sanji: "Get lost. What other meaning do you need?! I don't know what got into your head... But I appreciate that you came all this way to see me. Here's the thing, though. If you really care about me... Aren't you going about this all backward? Aligning myself with the rich and powerful Big Mom Pirates.... Can bring me much more happiness than sticking around.... With your tiny, poor crew. If I'm being honest, I don't even know.... If you have what it takes to be the King of Pirates. It's just common sense. If you want the win the race, you have to choose the right horse."

This should be a major red flag... The only reason Sanji supports the dream of someone becoming Pirate King is because it is Luffy... Sanji's dream is about finding All Blue, but he makes no mention of it in his words.... He's only talking about being apart of the "Winning team" in the race for the Pirate King, and being happy with riches...

Nami: "STOP JOKING AROUND SANJI, SANJI!!! WHAT'S GOTTEN INTO YOU?!!"

Page 3:

Luffy: "So... What you're saying is.... You've been lying to me all along..."

Sanji: "Yeah, that's right! I've been looking down on you on the inside. I realize it's probably hard to accept reality when it comes so suddenly. So I'll beat it into you instead. Put up your fists!!"

Germa Soldier: "Woah, wheres that light coming from!!! Flames?!"

Sanji: "DIABLE JAMBE!!"

Sanji: "Put up your fists..."

Luffy: "I'm not... Going to fight you!!"

Sanji: "Fine.... Then disappear!!"

Luffy: "I won't do that either!!"

Sanji: "YOU ALWAYS INSIST... ON GETTING YOUR OWN WAY!!!"

*Flashback*

Luffy: "Hey cook!! Join us!! Be the cook.... For my pirate crew!!"

*End Flashback*

Page 8:

Nami: "Stop it, Sanji!! We're only here to bring you back!! Luffy fought with an enemy officer.... All through the night to get here!! He's in bad condition!!"

Luffy: "Enough Nami!! Don't interfere.... This is a duel..."

Sanji: "You call this a duel?"

Page 9:

Nami: "Luffy!!!"

Sanji: "Get lost already!!! Begone from my sight!!!"

Luffy: "NO!!!"

Nami: "All right, Sanji, All right!! We'll leave!!!"

Luffy: "You're a good cook... And you're joining my crew!!"

Judge: "Well, it seems that unnecessary connection has been severed at last..."

Germa Soldier: "Yes, Sir!"

Nami: "Luffy!"

Luffy: "WAIT, SANJIII!!! What do you mean, inferior pirates?! You know you don't mean that!! STOP LYING!! DO YOU REALLY THINK YOU CAN DRIVE ME OFF LIKE THIS?!! DON'T BE STUPID!!!"

Luffy: "YOU CAN KICK ME ALL YOU WANT... BUT YOU'RE THE ONE FEELING THE PAIN!!!"

Nami: "Why would he do this, Luffy?! What reason could he have to..."

Luffy: "SHUT UP!!"

Reiju: "Should we stop, Sanji?"

Sanji: "NO."

*Flashback*

Sanji: "Ever hear... Of the All Blue?"

*End Flashback*

Luffy: "THIS VOYAGE... ISN'T OVER YET!!!"

Luffy: "I'LL BE WAITING RIGHT HERE!!! AND IF YOU DON'T COME BACK... I'LL JUST SIT HERE AND STARVE!!! I MEAN, YOU'RE THE COOK FOR MY SHIP!!"

*Flashback*

Vinsmoke children: "Ewwww! He was cooking for rats again!!"

*End Flashback*

Luffy: "I WON'T EAT ANYONE'S FOOD BUT YOURS ANYMORE!!!"

Page 16:

Luffy: "I'LL JUST STAND HERE AND STARVE... OUT IN THE RAIN AND THE SNOW... WAITING FOR YOU TO COME BACK!!! COME BACK, SANJI!! WITHOUT YOUR HELP... I CAN'T BECOME THE KING OF THE PIRATES!!!!"

Just as I thought,Nami didn't gave up on Sanji.

This makes it technically my 3rd time reading this chapter, and damn this was one of the most heart wrenching chapters by far since the New World.

MS translations are just overly praised.

MS is not that great. But things to note in this VIZ translation.

1.When Nami slaps Sanji it takes some of the impact away because normally Nami calls Sanji with the kun suffix. But in that scene she didn't. First time she's done that. In the VIZ though she has always called him just Sanji, since those honorifics don't apply in english, so it would be better if instead of downright omitting Sanji's name, if they had her call him Lord Sanji or something akin to that of a prince.

2.MS translation made Nami seem much more indifferent to Sanji when she said "I think he kicked you one too many times, I don't care what his reasons are, he crossed the line..." VS "Why would he do this, Luffy?! What reason could he have to..."

So it definitely put Nami in a better light regarding the whole situation, in the MS it seemed like she had completely given up on Sanji whereas in the official translation it highlights the whole shock and confusion she is feeling from the whole situation.
