I'm an office clerk. I'm loving my job. But one day I want to become an executive for a corporation.

That's great, what's the deadline to your goal? How much do you want to get payed and why do you want that position?

Btw your ambition doesn't seem to go further than a 9-5. You're off topic.

Deadline is age 40. I'd like to get paid about $200,000 a year and I want this position because I want power over people.

A decent company's executive gets paid much more than that, fam. $200k is what even managers can bag.

I work in the mental health field. Medicaid/Medicare is cutting back and moving to a MLTSS (Managed Long-Term Service and Supports) model to meet the expensive demand of long-term mental health clientele (Psychiatry, Case Management, Therapy, Mental Health Skill Building, etc.). In this Medicaid/Medicare benefits for people with mental health disabilities (including intellectual disabilities) will be privatized to corporate insurance companies. To summarize what that means to mental health providers, your business will only be reimbursed through quantifiable improvements the client makes.

From a business model it stands to reason. Tax payers are paying billions of dollars a year for mental health services for clientele that is not improving. When you look at the ideological and practical side of SMI (Serious Mental Illness -- Schizophrenia, Bipolar, Delusional Disorders, etc), you would understand that progress is minimal on their best day, and relapse is inevitable. The long-term effects of this could be a decline in reimbursement for state and private mental health agencies, an overall decrease in available services, decline in socio-economic change (increased poverty, substance use, violence, crime, and homelessness), increased psychiatric hospitalization (which costs tax payers around $8,000/day), job loss for mental health employees, and a spike in government assistance programs. It may even require a return to long-term state run psychiatric hospitals.

You're selling your time, your most important asset for money, that's not good. You can lose and regain money but you can never regain your time. Also aslong as you're in a corporate environment, you need to constantly compete with fellow employees not to mention the office politics.

The worst thing is that you can be fired before you reach your goal and even afterwards, why sell your soul to the rat-race when you can own yourself and your work? In this world, to have only a single source of income that's out of your control is not a good plan. You'd be much better of starting a business, if you have an idea you should work on it to not only make the world a better place but you ultimately benefit from it, far more than you would walking the beaten path.

You seem to be reading my mind. I like you.
I'm a Final Year Electrical/Electronics Engineer. I suffer from gross insubordination most of the time and can't tow the line. While it looks bad on the surface I have accepted that as my strength and I'm working on starting my company with an app I'm making instead of working under someone all my life after school.
My worst fear is working for someone all my life thus giving then the ability to shut me down completely.
By my estimations I should kick start my company in 2 years time that's is just after my National Service.

That's amazing, are you doing it yourself or outsourcing?

Also thanks.

I'm male (obviously), age 19 and Middle Eastern background. I'm a student majoring in Business Management and desire to specialize either in Accounting or Finance in the upcoming years.

At the moment, I'm unemployed but I'm searching for available jobs, either in IKEA or Jarir Bookstore. The pay is average, around $5,000-$10,000 per year in my country's standard. I'm saving up a lot of money for investment purposes. After I graduate from university, I'll immediately create my company which will specialize in entertainment and electronic services. I haven't started my entrepreneurship plan yet, so I can't give details.

Hope it works out what category of app will it be? Also how you find the company to help you create it

He hires people as demand increases of course.

It sounds like he's doing it solo for now.

He's starting the company based on the app in two years time. He's doing it himself for now, or with a partner.

id say success is determined by the person and everyone gauges success differently, though most consider it being rich=success

but me im a 24 year old recording artist for K records near Seattle in the US. i have a label of my own which i wont name but the licensing, marketing and publishing is usually handled by someone at K till i get my label strong enough to do so. they basically fund me and my projects and im so grateful for them and a lot of people there have been crucial in my journey

im by no means a business mind and im not super rich. but ive found the most success using other people's money. the indie/alternative audience is a different market than the commercial entertainment market in the music industry but thats been the most valuable in my experience. if one thing is for sure, rich people love good investments. be extremely brutally honest with yourself and grow to be that good investment for someone
