I like either one tbh. I like the ones who have tremendous power within but they chose not to use it because they're ashamed or it goes against their rules.

It depends on how you handle it. Its generally more difficult to screw up the OP'd from the start option though, while not as much with the "power through work". Either way, I could present good and bad examples for each side.

I prefer a set power level in the beginning and an increase/development if it's warranted. But not by too much, then you know the main character will always win because they'll get stronger somehow, not smarter.

I like both. Overpowered characters are fun to watch from the start because they (some characters) choose to troll and act like weak, those are the ones that I like the most.

For weak > strong depends if the character is annoying or not. If he/she's not then yeah I will like the manga but if it isn't then I might drop it in the future.

Either way is fine but I find the latter to be overused. It just matters on how well it's executed. As for the former, let's use Toriko as an example. He started out very powerful but the mangaka worked around it by having him face stronger opponents. Toriko is still getting more overpowered but we didn't see him start out from scratch during the start of the series.

You would love Ichiryu from Toriko then.

OT: I love seeing a character working to master or bring out their power and then later you see them finally master it. Those chapters are so epic!

OP characters from the start are just a boring power trip for young boys

I like strong characters who are made interesting. Saitama or Goku isn't interesting because he never does anything interesting with his position of strength.

I like the character to be a "natural talent" from the beginning and he seems "strong" but the more the story progresses the more you realize that there are way more stronger people than the main character and that the main character is at best mid-tier then the main character gets stronger and stronger until he becomes top-tier.

Similar to One Piece, Kuroko no Basket, Toriko etc.

For a main character I like to see struggle but I think it's dope to see op ass side characters
