Sasuke's Rinnegan Ability

The last chapter and the Boruto movie, Naruto had to sacrifice himself to save the village from the tailed beast bomb attack. My question is that with Sasuke right there doesn't he have a rinnegan six paths ability to absorb chakra. Shouldn't he have just absorbed the attack no problem just like the other guy was doing with his hand rinnegan. I feel like Sasuke was either nerfed or they just completely forgot about him having that ability.

We've never seen a Rinnegan user absorb a full-size Bijuudama with Preta. It's possible that there is a limit to how much chakra they can absorb at once. It's not unprecedented; Samehada could only "eat" so much chakra in one swing.

Exactly this. Preta path maybe able to absorb unlimited amounts of chakra but it most likely has limit as too how much it can absorb at once.

For instance when edo madara absorbed Naruto's rasenshuriken he claimed it was "too much" and his hands were smoking. It's highly probable that large scale techniques like bijuu dama are simply too massive to absorb.

We have never seen someone with a rinnegan who could absorb something of that level. However, Momoshiki did absorb that from Killer Bee, however I think the attack is increased in this case so Sasuke could not absorb it, that's what I reckon.

Momoshinki being from Hagomoro's and Hamura's clan, probably have large chakra reserves as well. It could be that the user can't absorb more chakra than what they can store naturally. We know the Uchiha's don't have the reserves, but their chakra is more powerful than most people.

Regarding that it was probably because Madara was edo with a fake Rinnegan. Because pain absorbed a odama rasengan from SM Jiraiya and a FRS from a healthy Naruto with ease. It wouldn't make sense for Madara to not absorb a FRS from a SM clone.

The most chakra we've seen a preta user absorb was 6 or 7 tails worth of chakra from killer Bee with Nagato not even being its true owner so it's power wasn't 100%

Yeah because with Susanoo he doesn't absorb the chakra himself; he uses his Susanoo as a vessel to store all that chakra including the bijuu's.
