[Discussion] Destiny Analysis : Why Naruto is not a Hypocrite

The Destiny Hypocrisy of Naruto is stated by these points :-

Naruto lectures Neji about changing your Destiny and not following it.

Naruto himself follows a centuries old Destiny (The Prophecy).

Thus, Naruto is a Hypocrite.

I would like to give some comments of mine on this. I initially started researching about the topic regarding fate and destiny in Riders to the Sea, when I came upon this article :

Here are the comments on Destiny :-

Destiny refers to a predetermined course of events that can be shaped by an individual.

Destiny can be changed by an individual.

Destiny is not associated with negative connotations and give rise to optimistic views.

Here are the comments on Fate :-

Fate refers to a predetermined course of events that is inevitable.

Fate is believed to be inevitable; it cannot be changed, no matter how hard you try.

Fate is often associated with negative connotations and tends to give rise to pessimistic views.

In respect to above, Neji was trapped in a destiny where he would forever remain a slave to the Branch Family. However, Naruto shows him otherwise and tells him that Destiny can be changed to his benefit. Neji does so and this leads to an optimistic life. Neji dies in peace doing what he thought was right, that was his choice, his destiny. It was not Fate.

Naruto on the other hand was destined to be the savior of the Ninja World. Could he have turned away from this destiny ? Yes, if he wanted to. But considering the situation he was in, his inner being told him to fulfill his destiny. Naruto fulfills his destiny and brings peace to the world, a positive outcome.

In summary,

Neji was mixing up Destiny and Fate. Naruto showed him that if your Destiny is leading you to a negative outcome, you can change it to a positive outcome. This is why Neji stops believing in the Branch Slavery thing and makes his own destiny.

Naruto follows his destiny and does not try to change it simply because the end outcome was positive.

In simplified terms,

Neji had a destiny with a negative outcome, which is why he chooses a destiny which will lead to a positive outcome.

Naruto had a destiny with a positive outcome, hence why he follows it to the end. If his Destiny had a negative outcome, he would have surely not followed it and made his own Destiny.

Conclusion : If we consider the above points and look through plot analysis, Naruto is not a hypocrite !

He didn't know initially, but everything was made crystal clear to him when he met the Sage. If Naruto is not a fool, he would have realized that he was following a set plan which was his Destiny. Knowing that he could have refused Hagoromo's power and made his own destiny. But he didn't do that, he accepted his Destiny, because deep down he knew that it will lead to a positive outcome.
