This regressive behavior from the left is why I became more politically centered, almost leaning towards the right. It was my openness to new ideas and skepticism that caused me to shift from the left, and it is the same openness that keeps me from adopting the close minded ideologies of the right. Rather than challenge your beliefs, and exit your comfort zone, you block out anything harmful that may conflict with your beliefs that may cause cognitive dissonance. I think you've heard of the buzzword "safe space".

Scientists, philosophers and freethinkers are always open to new ideas and possibilities, entering a discussion and accepting the possibility of being wrong, for the furtherance of knowledge, through logic and reasoning. This behavior is the complete opposite, and in my opinion is entirely cringe worthy.

People have their deeply held religious believe and my believe is that at the core of american conservatism is racism and nationalism.

"I think what believe is right, therefore, I don't need to question it". You believe it's right on what basis? That's irrational. Beliefs should be based on logic and reasoning through testing, and application, it is the foundation of society. These are the methods thinkers used to create mathematics, scientific models, and create inventions that we use on a day to day basis. Without challenging our beliefs, we'd still believe that the world was flat and our hearts were fireballs inside our chests.

And just because people on the left or the right are saturated with confirmation bias through the media does not give you an excuse to do the same. Ignorance does not excuse ignorance. I also find it funny how nationalism and patriotism is only ever racist when America applies those values. When European countries, and Eastern countries like Japan hold pride for their nation, it is promoted as culture and diversity. As Xenophobic as their culture is, we adopt it through manga and anime. This is literally why everyone is on this website right now. You'd realize these double standards are irrational if you challenged your beliefs.
