Stop making shit up. Ace was not surprised one bit by Teach getting hit by that attack. The intentions were clear, Ace heard Teach had a logia fruit. Two attacks now and Teach couldn't do anything about them, which led to him saying what he said.
He said "That's odd" after he hit Teach with fiery doll. "That's odd"="that's not what I was expecting to happen," otherwise he wouldn't have made that comment.
Ace attempting to kill Teach lmfao? Does that look like an attack that could kill Teach? Stop it.
Uhmm, the entire battle is Ace attempting to kill Teach. You think attempting to kill someone in a fight in the OP world is just using attacks that are one-shot kills? Let's stop being retarded here, you can attempt to kill someone by piling damage upon damage to get them to the point of weakness and exhaustion that you finish them off.
Lmfaoo the reach is strong with this one. Anytime a character is even relatively surprised, not even full blown surprised Oda draws a question mark or even an exclamation mark beside them. Not the character calmly smirking making remarks.
Let me teach you how to interpret manga. The very next page, top left is Ace actually being surprised. BB was dealing with his fire in an unusual way, and to show that Ace was taken by something unexpected he drew an exclamation mark and it reflected on his face.

It's obvious Ace was observing and taking in Teach's DF bit by bit, nothing unusual. Nothing to be had here, not gonna go back and forth with you any more than this/

Okay. You can argue that he wasn't shocked. That doesn't mean it's something he expected to happen either. You still haven't shown any lines of dialogue that shows Ace did that with the intentions of it being a test as opposed to being part of his attempt to murder Teach.

Ace was listening to and watching Blackbeards entire explanation of his DF, then later he attacks him and instead of following up with another attack he observed how BB was reacting to his firefly attack, literally not moving a muscle. That isn't what you would call bloodlusted and out to kill, he was simply patiently observing Teach. Hope this helps you understand, but it probably won't.

Do you also think Lucci and Doflamingo were testing Luffy's powers by standing around? Oda does this all the time to provide exposition on people's powers. It had nothing to do with Ace wanting to "test" Teach's powers. Again, he never expressed any such intentions.

Nope this is different. Teach specifically said he wants to show Ace his abilities and Ace complied by saying fine. After that he followed it up by blasting him with a ranged tech which Teach didn't phase through and Ace was not surprised nor did he try and attack Teach past that.
Ace specifically used that attack for that reason alone. Ace had hit him earlier with a flame fist and BB was rolling around in pain so he sent another attack at him without haki, turns out BB got hit again, allowing Ace to conclude he can't phase through attacks. No issue here.
Pretty much the exact same thing i always try to explain to him, but he doesn't want to listen and instead continue with his usual "It makes no sense for Ace to, at that moment, attack a Logia without Haki if he was a user of it."

Teach said he'd show Ace the power of darkness, Ace said that was fine, and then Teach did it. Ace had zero reason at that point to be suspicious or curious about anything involving Teach's fruit to warrant him to continue not using Haki.

Nothing really implies Ace wasn't using haki from that point onward. Unless you're implying Ace was STUPID enough to challenge a logia with no haki. Oda doesn't need to feed you everything.
Is measuring your opponent not a thing? ACE KNEW it wouldn't work under normal circumstances, he was simply seeing how Teach would react.

I think it is very hard to compare power levels pre-TS and post-TS, I'm a die hard OP fan, have been since 2003 but let's not pretend that OP is wholely consistent, it's nowhere as bad as in most other manga and the power levels are still prety tightly under control by Oda but there are some weird things here and there, like Croc pre-TS, and how absurdly OP even someone like Sabo looks even by MF standards, its almost a 2 decade long manga so this was bound to happen. And this is bout to continue I'll wager anything that the Yonko, the Admirals and someone like Mihawk will all pull stuff many times more impressive than MF. I do think a lot of this has to di with Luffy's power dcaling throughout the OP timeline, the stronget the SHs get the more intense the powers of all the side characters become, whether they are stronger than chars before them or not (Pica is one example, he looked like meh in DR but look at what he did, he basically changed tha landscape of the island, imagine what else he is capable of ... and he is nowhere near the top ppl in OP)
until Zoro beats a Yonko no.2 I will view Ace as the stronger one
What I'm getting at is that if you believe Akainu's magma has the same traits as normal magma, then Aokiji's ice would have the same traits (including density) as regular ice.

He was testing Teach out, you think he would send that attack knowing Teach could just phase through. He knew Teach could normally phase through that and was expecting him to, you don't expect someone to easily avoid a serious attack.....
