With this most recent episode I will admit that sasuke was defeated. This episode just hit me. Before with just the manga, my sasuke pride took over. I claimed it was a tie, since neither of them could move. This episode made me realize sasukes goal failed and he actually admitted he lost.

Naruto did awaken prior to Sasuke, and therefore he technically prevailed....
But, the battle could have had the opposite result as well.

Kurama didnt receive any damage from sasuke, Naruto took the pounding. Therefore he won. period.
