Better name for the series?

Because in the end, the series "Naruto" is not about Naruto, but about Naruto and Sasuke, their paralleled growth, beliefs, conflict and friendship. When you think about it then, the name "Naruto" is not really appropriate. So, what would be a better name for this series?

And don't say "Itachi" or "Sasuke" or something of the sort. C'mon, if you're gonna give a fanboy's response to the question at least be original about it.

I'd name it Yami no Hikari . Translating into Light and Darkness.

I actually like that.

OT this story is about narutos hero journey and it has other themes and plots, but at its core is about how the main character saves the world.

I could argue that. Its far from being just about Naruto. Sasuke's role is almost, if not just as, important as Naruto's own. Even though we see all Naruto has to go through in his journeys, for everything he learns, every battle he has, every challenge on his way, something parallel to it is presented to Sasuke. Of course, that is not always the case, or else the story would turn repetetive, but if you add on that logic as the series goes on arc by arc, you'll be surprised with how much it fits.

I'd name it: "Minato's offspring: his legacy continues".

Thought about it and don't see how Naruto isn't really appropriate though. At the end of the day, the story still centers around his ability to use words and actions to change the beliefs of others.

Really?

Yeah, why not? While at it, why don't you also rename "Marley and Me" as "The Dog Dies"?

Or "A New Hope" as "Darth Vader's Son"?

Or "Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince" as "The One Where Dumbledore Dies"?

Or...

...well, you get the point.

I don't care about Marley and Me. I care about Minato and his immediate family. This series could not have commenced were it not for his heroics 12 years prior to the beginning of the series

Naruto is finishing what Minato started.

Putting a spoiler in the title of the series seems highly counterintuitive.

Just 'sayin.

Honestly the thing that fundamentally started his journey was his desire to be hokage initially to be acknowledged by the people which he achieves early on. But that goal made him think what it means to be it and why it started, hashirama fundamentally created the gokage institution to establish unity and peace which naruto was able to achieve. Characters like madara and sasuke was to serve as opposition to this belief physically and intellectually saying it was a flawed system that power controls everything. The duality that's present in the series sole purpose was for naruto to overcome, sasuke represented the darkness that the light had to overcome so to me anyways at its core it's a story of narutos and lights triumph.

Except that the series made it pretty clear that working in the darkness is not quite a bad thing. Itachi is just an example. He might regret what he did but in the end we all know that there was no other option in that situation. It was the Uchiha or the village. There are also the mistakes committed by those who worked in the light represented by the past Hokage's mistakes, such as Sarutobi showing mercy to Orochimaru as an example, showing that doing things that way and solely that way doesn't work. There must be a balance. Hell, you could very easily make the argument that Sasuke is still working in the darkness to protect the Shinobi world while Naruto is the light as Hokage.
