Is Konan the female and a depressed version of Itachi?

Never put Konan in the same sentence as Itachi, she was a braindead robot unable to even think for herself. One of the most trash characters in the entire manga, strictly from a written perspective. Itachi is one of the only well written characters in this series.

Don't compare her to Itachi. She was nothing but a puppet.

Well I was never really interested in Konan as a character, she's just that hot female akatsuki member to me.

Itachi on the other hand is the true Hokage, one of the best characters in this manga in my opinion.

I kind of disagree, she was just a character who cared for Nagato and Yahiko above all else, that may seem like she's braindead but that's not the case. She is boring though.

No she is horribly written, and nothing more than a robot. She was ready to kill her master with no hesitation (not even a hint of regret), but upon Nagato changing his mind later based on what he felt, she acts like she was good to begin with despite the TnJ and the book having nothing to do with her.

Any proper non robot actually has their own mind and despite following someone else's paths shows their own emotions towards things, not her though because she was nothing but a shadow clone of Nagato.

Flashbacks indicate a real mature romance with Yahiko and although she wasn't writing gold- it's clear that after her lover died and her friend converted to a revolution, she cast all her feelings aside. She's by far the least developed Akatsuki member but she was more than just a monotone tool 'of God' when she was younger & before Hanzo's ambush - she's just committed & selfless.

And Itachi was.....what exactly?

Itachi made that decision, because he believed it was best for Konoha, he could either ride with his clan and close friends (which is the easier thing to do, and something braindead robot Konan knows how to do well), or he could go against them which was a decision much tougher than the former. He chose the path that goes against his own kin for what he felt was the greater good.
