Well, everyone is entitled to their opinion. I think you are exaggerating. His plan made sense in the context of a pretty poorly written shonen manga, especially comparing to the "ingenious" plans like putting everyone into an eternal genjutsu (Madara) or not doing anything at all and believing that things would just fix themselves (Naruto).

If you look at it from a realistic and mature point of view, then nearly everything in this manga is retarded and childish, of course
