Hey you two, further internet roaming has revealed that Sasuke could have had Itachi's hand with him. Not entirely sure though, here is a screen grab. I will edit original post.

So it would make sense then that Itachi did appear in Sasuke's memory as he attacked if the next episode is kind of like a dream state. And I am sorry, but who are both dead lol? Just need some clarification XD

Not really. Like it or not, the whole fight with Sasuke rotates around the promise to Sakura. In a symbolical sense, her focus here makes more sense than Hinata, who has literally talked to Sasuke once in the whole Canon.

I get the whole team 7 thing and the promise? So kind of how Naruto and Sakura want to bring Sasuke back that is why Sakura is the last pair of hands?
Initially I interpreted it as these were the people that were close to and supporting Naruto, hence why I thought Hinata should be the last. But considering your perspective, it makes sense.

You're right. That's the beauty of it. That's why this episode was so well done. Everyone interprets it in their own unique way. Unfortunately some of these interpretations cause arguments but hey at least it starts a debate XD

I am certain the first one is Jiraiya. And lol I agree! I know Sakura was in team 7 and all but I think Hinata should have been the final hand.

Sakura was the last one because of Narutos promise in part 1.with his final attack he wanted to bring him back so it makes sense she came to mind

Haha thanks! And I couldn't catch it all when I watched it ! Only way I could see was in this nicely segregated picture xd
Yeah I am pretty sure that Shino's hands are one of the three in the first box in the middle panel, then in the box underneath tenten's hands are in there with her team. There is actually four sets of hands in that box if you look closely (neji, gai, lee and what I suspect are tentens).

Hinata wouldn't have made sense. Naruto first promised sakura in the beginning he'd bring sasuke back. It was an emotional scene and befitting sakura's hands were the last one before sasuke's inevitable return to the good side, all in all that was Naruto keeping his promise he made long ago.

Further internet surfing has uncovered that Itachi's hand could have been with Sasuke? Simply signifying that he is alongside Sasuke and believes in his pathway no matter what? Or something else?

I've read that some people believe that Itachi was trying to stop Sasukes' chidori. Can't really tell by myself, as I completely missed it 1st time and had to watch it again, when I read that there was Itachi's hand, and still that movement is so weird and it happens so fast that it's hard to tell, what was the meaning of it.

BTW. The made it similar in game, but in game on Sasuke's side besides Itachi there was also Taka and Oro.

Yup I think this is the best interpretation after talking to a few of yous.

Definitely way too fast XD I would like to think Itachi was there with Sasuke as he stated he will always love him no matter what his decision. But to think he was helping him would be against his will of fire. So perhaps it's just Sasuke imagining him by his side. It would have been cool if they included Taka- however I think Sasuke having only one person, his brother - was more significant in this context as he wanted to be alone and this would be his final kill in memoriam of his brother.
