1.- First Hashirama isn't the strongest.
2.- Hashirama does have a Power Up, he is a transmigrant and for that he has more chakra which helps him a lot with sge mode and more stamina.
3.- He did win Madara but he barly won. He was on his knees at the end.
4.- At the end he couldn't fight with the Kyubi, he could barly stand up and that is why he put the Kyubi to sleep and Kurama is to strong and Hashirama even acknowledge this.

They're always weaker than Indra transmigrants and rely on others through to the end. Example primo Nardo(to be fair Sasuke isn't all that special for an Indra migrant but that only proves how weak Naruto is).

Ashura had Mokuton because Hagoromo was JuubiJin when he conceived his children. It's the reason he's able to use six path senjutsu in the first place, because Hagoromo had Juubi chakra and powers which went on to his children, Indra with Sharingan and Ashura with Mokuton and RSM
