Destiny smiled upon them. Whether they were born geniuses (Sasuke) or born absolutely useless (Naruto), they were always going to reach that god tier because destiny chose them. Do you mean genius like innately talented or are you saying he has one of the greatest minds of the series. If you think the latter one then please provide evidence. I'm sure the context sasuke is referred as a genius is one saying he's an exceptionally skilled fighter and if some characters mean intellectual genius I don't know of anything in the series to possibly support that claim.
