The basic psychology behind this is that certain groups of people feel safer with a president who aligns with their beliefs. The people who they dub patriot groups, are less likely to fear (and in turn out act) those they believe will impede on their beliefs/culture if they believe there is a person who can protect them. Hillary is a whole different ballgame though, because national security means nothing to her. Everyone has something to lose with her. The frightening revelation is that when people are most scared, they give away civil liberties for the illusion of protection (Patriot acts in early 2000s). Historically this has led to rise of some pretty evil regimes such as Nazi Party and Communist party in Cuba, Vietnam, China, and Soviet Union.
