[Discussion] We have hit an interesting predicament in One Piece...

Even without knowing just yet how the fight ended between Luffy and Cracker one thing is for sure. The Straw Hats are no were close to taking on a Yonko and their crew. Even if they somehow are able to escape with Sanji and protect Zeff at the same time we are kinda at a standstill on story progression. I see really only three choices that we have a moment.

1. Luffy has to go gear 5th or pull out some new Haki technique.

I really think this would way too soon to do as we just got gear 4th a short time ago.

2. Luffy calls in his fleet and they team up with a majority of the Worst Generation for help.

I could see this but we just got this as well with the fleet helping out an entire arc. That would be too much and too similar to what we just got from are last arc.

3. We go into a training Arc.

I actually love this idea. Save Kid, Hawkins, and their crew and leave because we know they aint taking on Kiado yet and go to an island and call in Rayleigh to help train them. We could get some of the Worst generation having sparing matches. That would just be epic!!!!

I applaud you for trying but what point would there be to show a training montage chapter after skipping a training montage? Plus we just got back from his 2 year training session.

If he has a fifth gear, it won't be too soon, while it'll definitely raise questions like "why didn't he use it against DD", there are scans that foreshadow it (like the one with Rayleigh telling him that his g4 isn't strong enough to beat the animals on Rukishina).

While Kaido is seemingly immortal, he's not unbeatable, so with this arc and the one before Wano (if there's one), they'll get powerups, and then they'd lose to Kaido the first time they meet and get another powerup, then they'll beat him up.

Seeing as every other gear did as well I'd say that's a safe bet.

Somehow Luffy will win against this cracker guy but Bigmom will like luffy.

Too much stuff happening on multiple fronts.

Kaidou and Big Mom got both introduced over the course of the same arcs. Both have a Route Poneglyph, and the SH's are split on both of their islands.

So I think there will be a clash between yonkou somehow, because the sh's can't beat them at this point. I think it will be like a war of the best thing were 2 major forces clash and Luffy will be just the back-up with a team.

If it plays out this way, Oda did it pretty smart because:

1) Whitebeard gave a demonstration
2) Kaidou and Big Mom might take each other out
3) Shanks is friendly
4) Blackbeard is an illegitimate yonkou, and the only one really that Luffy will need to beat. So Luffy doesn't need the raw individual strength to go toe to toe with a yonkou.

I would like if there still are people sailing the seas that Luffy can't match in a 1 vs 1, even if he becomes pirate king at the end of the line.

I think the Vinsmokes are the beatable enemies this arc, and maybe some of those henchmen. They need Big Mom to remove the threat from Zeff. The wedding/vivre card/jimbei will play a role somehow.

She's gonna get super mad that the peace offering from Fishman Island turned out to be a bomb, and they'll make the candy for her as a new peace offering, being that that's what she loves most. Since she loves candy even more than money, she'll pardon Caesar for swindling her and fight Kaido for the Strawhats.

I hope the sh crew doesnt have to save them tho, i kinda want some deeper meaning on why kid would join up luffy.
