I doubt the new mangaka cares for female leads anymore than Kishimoto does (considering the lack of exposure and new embarrassing costume change for her and Hinata)

Yet she's the ONLY one whose progress i'm curious in. Just let me see her become a young woman worthy of Hokage position, that's all I care about seeing in this new Boruto manga.

I had an idea of what might happen... if it's manga fact that Sakura is Sarada's birth mother, but the results of the test said her birth mother was Karin... maybe she was dying at birth and in order to save her life they gave Sarada some of Karin's DNA... which explains the glasses and a possible power up of chakra chains.

Maybe it had to be hidden for some unknown reason... like the fact that her Uchiha DNA + Uzumaki DNA is capable of the sage of the six paths and other ninja would be after... maybe that explains another reason why Sasuke isn't around?

The lack of "exposure" was only recap done by Kishimoto who was known as the sexiest, we havn't gotten to the new material yet, also Ikemoto is only the artist and was the supervision of Kishimoto for the Original Naruto manga. We're talking about Kodachi who is the script writer hold great reputation to some of hiden novels which I can't recall which and the movies/ova.

Maybe, I just meant more as a narrative payoff. I don't think after the huge drama sitch of Gaiden it's unlikely it'd return to that just out of repetition. Cool theory too.
