I think it takes twice the effort of beating Doflamingo to do some damage on Shanks.

See I want to agree with this statement but in my head I'm like is oda gonna have another time skip ? Cuz no way in hell luffy can take on a yonko right now

I mean I guess that's why he emphasized the team work and alliance etc... Tho still law and luffy barely was able to take out doffy and that was only due to outside help from collosium fighters and citizens and that healing dwarf chick

How can Shanks be Luffy's final obstacle when Luffy's end goal is finding the One Piece? How would Shanks be an obstacle in this path when he has no desire to find it himself and supports Luffy's journey?

No bro but of course Luffy goal it's to achieve One Piece but also he want to surpass Shanks.After Big Mom Luffy fight against Kaido and will defead him.. will left Teach and Shanks. Kaido maybe is the strongest but he in is not strongest man he is the strongest creature.

I agree, MOST LIKELY Shanks would beat Luffy, but then again, when have we actually seen Shanks in combat? I get that we KNOW he's strong, because he and his crew intercepted and held of Kaido when they were heading to join the fight at Marineford, and they're both strong enough to be called a Yonko. But the thing is, we haven't seen EITHER of them in combat. We haven't seen them in combat, and have no means of playing out a hypothetical battle against Luffy or each other.

Also, I doubt Luffy would ever fight Shanks, or more likely, Shanks would never fight Luffy. As Shanks and Luffy are friends, he is the least likely of the Yonko to decide to fight Luffy, and, at least to me, he seems like the type who would gladly acknowledge Luffy as the Pirate King, especially if he had beaten three other Yonko. But, at current, where Luffy has yet to face a Yonko, I think he likely would outclass Luffy, but not by THAT much
