Why didn't the Susanoo protect Sasuke's face?

During the fight- Sasuke vs Momoshiki Ōtsutsuki (Kinshiki absorbed), Sasuke's face was burned by the heat from the Lava attack.

How can this happen, when Sasuke already survived a direct hit from Lava attack during the fight with the Mizukage.

Animation mistake, Mei's "lava" jutsu is actually acid of some kind.

Isn't the temperature of the Lava constant? If so the case, than it wouldn't matter the user of the technique.

They're just named that like how kurotsuchi has lava release but she uses quicklime and Dodai also has lava release but uses "vulcanized" rubber. The only one who uses actual lava is Roshi/Son Goku.

I could see your reasoning here. A perfect example of your statement would be the difference of Fire style:Fireball Jutsu displayed in the battle between Sasuke and a weakened Itachi.

Mei has that one too (the actual lava)

Though I see what you are saying about the different sub classes of lava release like rubber. I wonder why she stated she had 2 Kekkei Genkai though if both the acid and lava fall under lava release. Maybe because she has 2 elements under the lava release category. :wut:

It's not a mistake. She has 2 Kekkei Genkai. Lava release and acid. The lava she used to seal Sasuke in the room. It was the acid that was eating away at Susanoo when Sasuke fought her (if I'm remembering correctly)

Momo used an Otsutsuki level (basically Rikudo level) lava release to burn Sasuke. Otherwise it most likely wouldn't have effected him at all. Like when Mei spit lava at madara and his Susanoo just shrugged it off. Same thing here.

Yeah exactly that was stated in the manga by kakashi that you can overpower your element or its weakness by using more chakra to counterbalance the elemental disadvantage or over power a technique of the same element and then that technique gets turned against its user and empowers your jutsu

Another example of this was during the Sakura Sasori fight. Sasori used that pressurized water from his final puppet while Saskura and Chyo were hiding behind solid rock (water's weakness I believe) but the rocks were pulverized due to the sheer power behind the tech. I think Chyo mentioned the same thing here as well.

Yeah, realistically the element advantage has only ever worked when sasuke fought deidara they usually don't emphasize two elements hitting each other often

What does a spirit entity have to do with anything. And why cant heat burn Sasuke when Kaguya pummeled it to nothing with chakra. Its obvious Susano'o was just inferior to each jutsu it lost to.

Plus thats just rib cage Susanoo, evenTsunade broke it, its not impenetrable, never was.

It wasnt nerfed, you just underestimated Momoshiki.
