What Boruto truly lacked was heart. Naruto competed in the chuunin exams with less pure talent then boruto but still reached the finals due to his determination as a ninja.

Boruto, though lacking in kage bunshin aspect, has more skill then part 1 Naruto but gives up way to easily and resorts to cheating. If he were to retake the exam with his ninja spirit awakened he would do better considering he does in fact know diff elements like he told his father before even getting the cheat device.

It actually reminded me of when Naruto went nuts on Orochimaruu and ended up injuring Sakura.

Then Yamato told Naruto that if he wanted to save Sasuke, to do it using his own power, because his real strength was his own and not Kyuubi's.

Boruto had to hit rock bottom to see the flaw in taking the easy way out instead of working and relying on himself.

Damn! This kid is not like Naruto when it comes to training hard! Both his fights he cheated, even when it came to capture the flag he cheated.(Why not showcase his skill?)

They had to make him fit in his own movie because what is he an the new gen suppose to do against Otsutsuki of Momo & Kins caliber.
Then there's Kin-moshiki! No way was this the right setting for them. Naruto/Sasuke nerfed.

All in all for me I gave this flick a 7 out of 10. Good fight scenes & cool laid back character designs. The power scales where to far apart for the new gen to show off their skill. Momo & Kin shouldn't be involved in this gen until they are strong enough to handle them. (Not nerf Naruto & Sasuke for it)

He didn't apply any nature to rasengan. the vanishing crap was a fluke that he got when getting emotional and the him utilzing three natures made up bs that never had a shred of evidence connected to it. In fact when he said was right after hooking up the kote device to his arm.

and it also took Naruto three days to learn rasengan and Boruto trained hard for that nothing about him was genius. everything he learned was hard work.

He stayed up all day and night its not like it came naturally. 3rd of all Boruto was lieing because Konohamaru showed him rasengan but he also showed him the kote device which gave him any jutsu he wanted.

Lel your reaching knows no bounds. Naruto stayed up to learn the Rasengan, yet each step took long periods of time to learn. Him learning a step a day proves that point.

Also he is more intelligent than shikamaru when he counter his son by knowing when exactly the right time to release those devices. Normally when you get caught by shadow bind, you are done for and can not move on your own, but Boruto took it to the higher level by counting when it comes to an end and be in position so that those devices can be dropped.

Uh, well I totally understood it. You'll have people trying to downplay his abilities in the Chunin Exams when the Movie made it pretty clear that his reasoning for most of his faults, were do to his character. Something completely different from Naruto (his father) is that the kid lacks heart, when things don't go his way (or aren't easy), he doesn't try.

Although despite these failures in the Chunin Exams, he still comes out on top through debates. So I kind of like to see the posts where people downplay his abilites, which in turn downplays a lot of their next generation favorites.

Still - The second match Boruto was up against the entire team, the third match Boruto was doing fine until he heard his father's voice and switched to using the KOTE (he took out a regular shuriken until he became nervous), and against Shikidai, he only used the shadow clone jutsu.

Anyone with common sense can see that if Boruto retook these exams with the mindset post-development. He would more or less stomp unless he came face to face with Sage Mode Mitsuki.

Well you could look at it like this, he fooled everybody except naruto and sasuke. Up until naruto scolded him in the middle of the arena he had kages and jounin believing his hand movements were extremely fast. He's an excellent cheater.
