Truth is if you watched the movie Boruto didn't stand a chance against the opponents he faced because he was trying so hard to impress his dad. He felt like he wasn't making any progress and decided to cheat when he could have trained like how Sasuke wanted him to and won. These are facts.

Uh, well I totally understood it. You'll have people trying to downplay his abilities in the Chunin Exams when the Movie made it pretty clear that his reasoning for most of his faults, were do to his character. Something completely different from Naruto (his father) is that the kid lacks heart, when things don't go his way (or aren't easy), he doesn't try.

Although despite these failures in the Chunin Exams, he still comes out on top through debates. So I kind of like to see the posts where people downplay his abilites, which in turn downplays a lot of their next generation favorites.

Still - The second match Boruto was up against the entire team, the third match Boruto was doing fine until he heard his father's voice and switched to using the KOTE (he took out a regular shuriken until he became nervous), and against Shikidai, he only used the shadow clone jutsu.

Anyone with common sense can see that if Boruto retook these exams with the mindset post-development. He would more or less stomp unless he came face to face with Sage Mode Mitsuki.

Sasuke wanted him to practice his shuriken jutsu. Sasuke showed Boruto his clones were worthless because others could make more. Both those scenarios came into fruitation where Boruto needed shuriken skils and Boruto got outnumbered by someone who can make more clones than him.

OT: When i watched the movie I hoped that he wouldn't get caught. Not because of him but because of Naruto. I understand how embarrassing it can be for a parent when their kid screws up. On that note Boruto wasn't up against a single person who could make more clones than him, Boruto was up against three people (triplets) who could make three shadow clones each. Which resulted in nine vs four.

So when Boruto who doesn't even try to get out of hard situations, can just use a cheating device to solve his problems. It leads to the scenario.

Later in the Movie he learns the Rasengan in a few days, and applies nature chakra to it which was stated to be an incredibly high skill level feat. Towards the end of the Movie Sasuke confirms that, and says that Boruto has the potential to one day 'surpass his father' -- Despite how BS that statement is. If you walked in with an open mind, you'd see the clues for yourself instead of being totally mindless.

He didn't apply any nature to rasengan. the vanishing crap was a fluke that he got when getting emotional and the him utilzing three natures made up bs that never had a shred of evidence connected to it. In fact when he said was right after hooking up the kote device to his arm.

and it also took Naruto three days to learn rasengan and Boruto trained hard for that nothing about him was genius. everything he learned was hard work.
