Minato sealed half of kurama because he thought that he was just a skillful Uchiha with a unique ability. And since you're not suppose to have full control over a jinchuuriki if they are perfect, he figured naruto can avoid getting controlled while using the power of the fox to beat him. He didn't know the extent of Tobi's powers so he didn't know how little that would of done.
But considering that naruto is Asura incarnate, learned sagemode, got seven more bijuu power, and naturally six path yang because of senju lineage it just all worked out well for him.

So he may not be rinnegan level but he's right below it and he could possibly win with a little cooperation.

i dont think it's far of a stretch to think that it could make him rikudo level
