Nagato couldn't really control it. If I remember right wasn't he falling unconscious every time he used it? I think at best it just that your body need time to adjust to the Rinnegan like Nagato's did.

I think your right here, he used as say, to help him learn ninjutsu and master the elements but when he was shown actually doing something like a rinnegan power he freaked. Also it never really showed him after the incident with yahiko when he uses the gedo? It's hypothetically possible he stayed in that state till he died no? He seemed to still have all that stuff sticking out of him when naruto finds him in that tree iirc

As far as I can remember, that only happened during his first time using it, and his passing out was probably due to his emotional distress. Nothing about him failing to control the Rinnegan has ever came up.

After the Mazo he was basically still crippled but the rods stayed in his back it seemed. Though for some reason once he summoned it it sucked his life force unless it was because of the soul dragon.

I thought it stopped once he got control of it. Because even with Jiraiya there and he saved Yahiko he fell unconscious. And I think again when he used soul dragon/Mazo. Not 100% positive though.

How so though? Kakashi doesn't have large reserves and he mentions kakashi being able to use it, granted he might mean just dispelling IT but he still assumes kakashi could use it

he was to leave his eye to him to undo the IT knowing that kakashi would die with it as well.

also kakashi has obito's So6P' chakra with him at that time so it would only make sense that kakashi would be able to use it most likely once then die after awhile.
